I've always been fascinated by the horror genre ever since I was young.

When most kids would toddle off to the adventure or fantasy books, I was flipping through Alvin Schwartz's 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.' The nightmarish illustrations by Stephen Gammel evoked feelings of fear and imagination, haunting me long after my mother ripped the book from my hands and scolded me for reading such garbage. But her chiding fell on deaf ears.

I was already enraptured by the eerie allure of things crawling in the shadows.
