Rad climbing

Set up into mini films for each person. Each mini film is amazing in its unique ways. Margo Hayes is excessively awesome and you should definitely watch her make history and just see her fun driven personality. Chris Sharma is super cool. Brad Gobright was so funny and so talented, he only ever deserves good things said about him because he truly was such an amazing person. Maureen Beck is a super talented rad lady, who totally deserves a sponsorship from a cupcake company or something. If you like rock climbing watch this. If you don't like rock climbing watch this and it'll make you want to go get into it one way or another. 10/10 would absolutely recommend.

Great mix of rock climbing stories

The four short movies that make up Reel Rock 12 span the climbing world from international cutting edge rock climbing in Spain and France to very local stories in Boulder, Colorado.

Chris Sharma has had one of the longest and most successful careers in rock climbing. It's great to see him now as a husband, father and business owner still pursuing amazing free solo climbs on the sea cliffs of Majorca, Spain. It is a unique sub-discipline of climbing since you have to be a strong swimmer as well as a climber.

Watching a 19 year old from Boulder climb the hardest sport climbs ever done by a female climber is mind-blowing. Amazing tenacity. The movie includes a range of interviews including with Lynn Hill who was the first woman to climb 5.14 30 years ago.

The most surprising thing about watching a one-armed climber send a 5.12 route in Boulder Canyon is how irritated disabled climbers are by the condescending comments they get from other climbers and the media. Being a local climber with projects on the same crag it is fun to see her go through the same struggles I am.

The seriousness of Brad Gobright's hair-raising solo and trad climbs and the resulting falls and injuries is impossible to ignore knowing that Brad died a few years later in a rappelling accident in Mexico. It forces us as climbers to come to grips with the risks, costs and benefits of what we do.

It is a great collection of stories focused on trad climbing, sport climbing and soloing. This year doesn't include any stories on bouldering, alpine climbing or ice climbing. Enjoy!

Great photography, but same story

These climbing movies are fun to watch, but as someone who has seen them all, it seems to be the same story over and over again. Decent climbing porn and great photography, but these guys really need to come up with a fresh story.
