I'm a fan of this author, but this story arc was just odd! The h moves between two worlds via a magic library, moving from a more classic werewolf romance to a more dsrk fantasy genre in the process (the h actually notes this while perusing the shelves of the magic library). However this device did not work for me, felt contrived, and as though the author had just stuck two different genre tales together via a portal), reinforcing this was the inner narrative of the h, which was oddly schizo (in world 1 she's mainly passive-resilient, in world 2, instantly, she's positively perky-sassy). There are several annoying themes that arch over this sandwich narrative. Firstly, repeated excusing and softening towards two major abusers (although maybe they will be redeemed and this will turn into a bully romance?), and persistent product placement - including a very odd italicized plug for Leia Stone, and statements by the h such as "she was all about the hidden gems of the indie author world", she luckily still had her kindle library and favorite werewolf series while on the run for her life, or "still existing in an epic book hangover from my last shifter read". I'm (or was) already a fan and bought the book. I really don't need further advertising for Indie werewolf fiction, thank you. It was really grating. Other reviewers have objected to the cliffhanger. To be honest, while this would usually annoy me (I believe every 'book' should have a complete story arc, even if in a series), I was already so disassociated by that stage that I won't be hanging on to this cliff.

This is one of those stories that should have been one book. But for what ever reason - feed her ego, grab more money - the author ends the story in the middle of an actual scene. No tidy half ending. No closure to the current action. They are right in the middle of a confrontation and that is the cut off. Like she had a deadline to meet and did not have a minute to spare to wrap up the current conundrum and leave a breadcrumb for the upcoming strife. Wish I could leave zero stars.

Wow! Ok so I have been super excited to read this story from the moment we saw the cover art! Ugh, beautiful! It didn’t go how I had planned in my head, but that is probably for the best - gotta love a story that isn’t super predictable. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading this wondering where it was going to go, and then the “cliffy”... I can not wait for the 2nd book to come out! I have so many questions!!! Another fantastic work by Jaymin!

Jaymin Eve Does PNR the RIGHT Way!

Rejected was everything I love about PNR and Jaymin Eve...

A quirky, fiesty, hilarious FMC. A sexy, mysterious, dark-ish MMC. Throw in some amazing chemistry, unique world building, and a plot that FLIES BY. I've read my fair share of shifter romances and while sometimes the trope is boring and overdone, Jaymin was able to create a unique, thrilling world within multiple worlds. I'm a major nerd so I specifically LOVED that aspect of this story and I cannot wait to read more about it.

I loved all the side characters. I loved how Mera lived a hard life but she also sought out the good around her. She was so strong but her heart was compassionate. Everyone she met was entranced by both her smart mouth, her beauty, and her personality.

And the Shadow Beast? I fell for him...hard. This was, in my opinion, a slow burn romance. Not much happened in this one, but there was just enough chemistry, flirting and the likes to keep my romantic heart going. Torin was horrible. Jaxson broke my heart. I loved the dynamics of the pack, the mystery of the Library, and the unknown of how this romance is going to go.

This book had potential but the author ruined it just so she could create a series out of the story, i mean it could be one anyway but the author really did a bad job with the first book.
The story had NO CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and NO PLOT DEVELOPMENT NOTHING WAS ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING.
Mera spent the whole book moaning and groaning and acting tough when she was anything but, i sat and read through 50 something chapters of Mera's inner monologue *annoyed*. The time she spent concocting a plan with Angel to get out and get laid to win the stupid bet with the shadow beast she should have been use that same time developing and learning about her abilities.
The little attraction thing between Mera and Darkor was not believable in the slightest it felt forced and it just got worst when the just happen to end up in the Fae realm just in time for the fertility song lol, that made Mera so hornyyy just so these two could have some sexual interaction so we know who Mera will end up with, like duhhhhhhh like the cover isn't a dead give away.
And that rude cliffhanger right when things were getting good *sucks teeth* right in the middle of the story!!!
anyway because i like punishment i will finish out the series giving the author an opportunity for redemption.
But buy this at you own risk or find it somewhere that's free (borrow it from a friend) cause it was not worth the money i spent okay.

It’s been a while since the author started a new series and I knew this would be amazing.

Mera is the best main character. She’s smart and strong and doesn’t start off weak even though she’s had the worst time. She creates family wherever she goes and loves fiercely.

I love Inky a lot and I can’t wait to find out what he actually is and how it relates to Shadow. There’s a lot of things I’m eager to know about Shadow and the Shadow realm.

I don’t know how Mera does the things she can with the realm and after that ending I can’t wait to find out what she actually is! She can’t surely be a regular human wolf shifter, right?

Mera is the strong lead female character and Shadow is the perfect Alpha male for her. Mera has learnt to be strong and to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix, due to circumstances out of her control. Shadow tries to control her but slowly learns that Mera has quite a bit of snark and more bite than the average female wolf shifter.

Great characters and great plot, to end it on a cliff hanger!!!!

I can’t wait to read the next install net, which I preordered as soon as I was able.

Ok so i was sceptical about this book, I have previously read the authors books and I found them not very enjoyable however this book holds promise but there are two characters I just cannot stand and I’m finding it hard if I should read the next one when clearly I did what she wrote in the end of her book I threw my kindle angry at the ending. Dean and torin need to go because I cannot stand them at all and they are cringe and down right disgusting manipulative people argh please find a way to kill them on book two :)

Definitely worth reading with an interesting take on shifter law

A pretty strong start to a new series. Mera is a wolf shifter who is ostracised and bullied by her pack, suffering for the sins of her father. She decides to leave before the bond to the pack strengthens with her first shift, but her plans are foiled. When with her first shift Mera's true mate is revealed, hell breaks loose and Mera is whisked away by the creator of shifters himself. How will she navigate the new world she finds herself in and what will her true mate do, if anything, to get her back?

This new series is definitely worth a read with a cocky defiant female lead. But while I enjoyed the storyline and finished this in 2 sittings, there were parts of it that seemed rushed and could become confusing, and parts that seemed to drag. New characters are introduced with just a line and little explanation which can make it hard to remember who is who when they pop up again 50 or 100+ pages later. There is enough mystery and suspense built in that I've already preordered the second book in the series, despite being pretty sure from about half way through this first book that I know the answer to the main mystery.

A fresh take on wolf shifters this story has do much intrigue it was literally unputdownable. The characters and world's created in this book have sunk their claws into me and I cannot wait for the next installment. Watching Mera's character development throughout the book was so satisfying and I cannot WAIT to see her get her revenge on in the next book. This is no ordinary fated mates plot and if you enjoy grumpy love interests and a resilient badass FMC then this is the book for you. Be warned there is a cliffhanger at the end of this one that makes you want to throw something but the next installment is only 2 months away.
