A new paranormal romance from Wall Street Journal and USA Today best seller Jaymin Eve.
My father made a terrible mistake. One I’m left paying for.
As a wolf shifter growing up in a strong pack, I should be living my best life. But after my father tried to kill our leader, I’m labelled an outcast, traitor, less than dirt.
When I can't take pack life any longer, I run, but apparently they don't like losing their punching bag. Torin, the leader’s son, drags me back before my first shift...a shift that will reveal my true mate. I never could have predicted who mine would be, but the moment my wolf looks upon him, I’m filled with hope for a brighter future.
After all, no one ever rejects their true mate, right?
Wrong. Very wrong.
When the wolves attack, my soul screams for vengeance, and somehow I touch the shadow world. Somehow I bring him to our lands.
The Shadow Beast. Our shifter god. The devil himself.
Turns out being rejected by my mate was only the beginning.
*If you like sexy, dark paranormal romances, with humor, steam, action, a tough heroine, and an antihero, this is for you.
Rejected is full-length (100,000 words), is book one in Shadow Beast Shifters series, and ends on a cliff-hanger. It's recommended for 18+ due to language and sexual situations.

After a long time of waiting to read it, I picked this book up all excited and anxious to see a whole new world.
I truly loved this book. It wasn't my 5 ⭐️ read, but it was close. What I loved the most was the writing style and our heroine Mera.
Mera is a funny bookish girl who's a shifter. Her life was beautiful and prosperous until her father tried to kill the Alpha of the pack, that's when it went south. For the last 10 years Mera has been bullied by people she used to call friends and by some new ones too. Luckily, she was able to have a friend or two who she knew truly cared about her. She couldn't wait to get out of the time after her first shift, but it didn't go according to her plans...now she's fighting for her life and along the lines trying to found how who she is as a person.
Loved, loved, LOVED how funny Mera is! She isn't the typical girl who just loves to read. She is someone who we all would love to read more probably about. She tried to enjoy her life as best as she could in the given circumstances. She's curious and has so many questions that she needed answers for. She's intelligent and funny, but knows when it's time to stop, sometimes! Haha.
I would think that a book without that many spicy scenes would not be worth it, but this was completely different. We got a spicy scene, at least one, but otherwise I loved how the author was building the tension. It's not forced or too fast nor too slow. It's perfect.
I've read this book nearly in one go. The first night I went to bed at 3 am, which hasn't happened to me in a very, very long time. I was super excited and when I mentioned this to my best friend she was so happy for me, because she also knew that I haven't read a book this fast in a long time. Then I finished the book in maybe an hour or two. Now I'm on my way to order the last 2 books of the trilogy. That's how much I loved it!
I am really interested in the storyline and am excited to start the next book.
*I would give this an R rating. The F word is used liberally, and the spice scene was explicit even without being very detailed. Plus, there is a lot of talk about sex and virginity. (I am not saying this is bad at all. It's simply a rating system for myself. It makes it easier when sharing books)
This was a fabulous thing to sink my teeth into and NOTHING that I could have ever even imagined it being. There were so many details and characters and THINGS I could picture VIVIDLY and it was stunning bc it just made me fall in love with reading this more.
I’m pretty sure the author was riffling around in my head deep inside the recesses of my “wildest dreams come true” pandoras box I thought I locked. 💗
For as much as I love this tho, I do have a couple of knocks but I’ll make them simple so I don’t give TOO much away.
The first one being chemistry between our male and female leads. Other than the FL admitting that she had eyes and found the ML attractive (which, let’s be honest, who can blame her? WOW!) the ML comes off as being an older brother in a way. (Not the way he acts but kind of how their relationship feels) he’s objectively attractive in a way that reads “yeah that Gucci billboard model can DEFINITELY have my number if he ever walks out of that advertisement and straight into me” kind of way. Attractive but in an UNOBTAINABLE way to our FL. He’s doesn’t really show any interest in her, and the same can be said for her other than her acknowledging that she’s a red-blooded female with working ovaries. Neither of them give off real chemistry and in fact, I would argue out of everyone I would say I got the most tingles between her and another character with Jaxon. So their “build” up into maybe being something more our Male and Female Leads, is essentially lacking and non-existent.
Which brings me to my second knock. The Spice. The Peppers. THE FUEGO. 🔥🔥🔥 WhErE!?! The scene, let me repeat that, THE. SCENE. Comes and I was left a little sad and lack luster. *spoilers ahead people* our FL comes like, 30 times with essentially no effort on either of their parts, I swear there was basically this point in the action that if he so much as breathed in the same general direction as her cl*t she’s coming again. All of the sensations, all of the feelings, all the deliciousness that comes from scenes like this was hollow, a bit forced, and a tad rushed. Like the whole scenario of them ending up in that situation in the first place, enough for them to finally call it “time out” on the faux enemy’s to lovers thing they’ve got simmering between them, was clearly a manipulation and plot by Shadow our crafty, information withholding, ML. And if it happens to be that, that WASN’T the case? -Well then it felt like it was and if that’s true then that whole scene felt a bit, how to say politely? A bit TOO ADVANTAGEOUS for our morally grey, what-is-he-to-us, ML, Shadow and again, his clever manipulations and puppeteering. I digress tho.
And lastly, I swear, TIME. Keeping track of time is a bit wonky. And forget about the part where’s she’s somewhere else and time moves differently, I’m talking about when she goes on her first shadow creatures hunting mission in the throws of winter a couple of months after she’s taken by Shadow, then another shadow creature hunting trip puts them back in Torma where she runs into her Brick-for-Brains mate it’s now summer and everyone’s talking about how it’s been a YEAR since she left. But then finally when she’s BACK in Torma and it’s starting to get cold again and the winter solstice is around the corner but everyone’s saying she’s still been gone a year and not a “year and a half” or “two”. Idk, it just bugged me.
Final thoughts tho is whoever read this review/ rant till the end, you should definitely read this. It’s fantastic. 💗✨

Mera is the best main character. She’s smart and strong and doesn’t start off weak even though she’s had the worst time. She creates family wherever she goes and loves fiercely.
I love Inky a lot and I can’t wait to find out what he actually is and how it relates to Shadow. There’s a lot of things I’m eager to know about Shadow and the Shadow realm.
I don’t know how Mera does the things she can with the realm and after that ending I can’t wait to find out what she actually is! She can’t surely be a regular human wolf shifter, right?

Great characters and great plot, to end it on a cliff hanger!!!!
I can’t wait to read the next install net, which I preordered as soon as I was able.

This new series is definitely worth a read with a cocky defiant female lead. But while I enjoyed the storyline and finished this in 2 sittings, there were parts of it that seemed rushed and could become confusing, and parts that seemed to drag. New characters are introduced with just a line and little explanation which can make it hard to remember who is who when they pop up again 50 or 100+ pages later. There is enough mystery and suspense built in that I've already preordered the second book in the series, despite being pretty sure from about half way through this first book that I know the answer to the main mystery.
