Relentless Box Set: The Complete Fleet Ops Trilogy Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
The best-selling military space opera: the complete series in one box set. We fought them for decades. And we won.
But victory has proven more destructive than defeat.
Years after defeating aliens bent on burning down the galaxy, the Interstellar Union is breaking apart, its member species undermining each other at every opportunity.
When an interdimensional distress signal arrives, only humanity is interested in helping.
Captain Vin Husher is given command of the UHS Relentless, and sent in as part of a carrier strike group...
...right into a trap laid by humanity’s old enemy.
Surrounded by a bioengineered super-species and unable to return home, Husher must draw on decades of experience just to keep his people alive.
If he can’t survive long enough to escape this hellish pocket universe and warn humanity of the impending danger, all will be lost.
And it might already be too late.

The last quarter of the series finally kicks up a few gears and there's a suitably heroic finale. At last! So, four stars, but not a five.
There were quite a bit of references to earlier books/stories, perhaps if I had read them first it’d have been better, but as it was I found it to be (unusually) too much action. There are characters that develop and some interactions that are interesting and educational, but they’re continually interrupted by more action, big battles, things going supernova and immense losses of people and equipment…so much so that they all blurred into a huge chunk and left me wondering how the protagonists even survive past the first 100 pages…too many close calls and almost-but-not-dead-this-time-either incidents showed plot armor several yards thick.
To me it was an OK read, but I didn’t get curious about the universe. Some of the characters yes, but not the rest. Usually I’m not a 3-star reviewer, but I can’t give this more unfortunately as it didn’t engage me much beyond finishing it. If you like action and huge space battles against overwhelming odds/foes this is a good buy, to me it was too much action and not enough story.
