Reliance Controls Corporation PB30 30 Amp NEMA 3R Power Inlet Box for Generators
The Reliance Controls PB30 NEMA 3R Power Inlet Box is an outdoor/watertight electrical inlet for a 30 Amp L14-30 generator cord. It is designed to be located outdoors where the generator is running to prevent dangerous carbon monoxide fumes from the generator from entering your house. This inlet box is then safely hardwired through an outside wall directly to the transfer switch or panel, eliminating the need for cords running through windows or doors. It is designed to be wired directly to the transfer switch or panel by using one of the four combination 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch knockouts (one on each side, bottom and back). The exclusive patented design provides generous wiring space and facilitates rough-in. The face of the box is removable for easy placement and wiring. It is constructed of steel with rugged, anti-corrosive powder-coat paint and has a spring-loaded inlet cap to prevent moisture front entering the connector inlet when not in use.

- The rain tight NEMA 3R PBN-Series steel power inlet box is designed for use with Pro/Tran transfer switches, Panel/Link transfer panels and generator-ready load centers.
- The front entry inlet has a weatherproof spring cover which closes when not in use to protect the inlet from the elements.
-It is designed to be installed outdoors in an open area where the generator is being used to avoid carbon monoxide hazard.

- Constructed of powder coated steel, this traditional Reliance Controls series will not rust.
- Using four combination 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch knockouts (one on each side, bottom and back) the power inlet box is designed to be wired directly to the transfer switch or panel.
-cUL listed.

being stolen or vandalized while running. I bought this so that I could run wire to our backyard to allow our generator to plug in where it eas located which was much cheaper than buying 75 foot power cord to run from the generator to the breaker box. It also allows me to disconnect and put up the generator when not in use.
I attached a picture of the current setup. I recently bought a shed though that I am going to setup my generator to run inside it, so I will be moving this to my shed. This will also allow me to plug into this to have power in my shed via an L14-30 extension cord with 4 Power connections. Then if the power does go out, can just plug in the generator and turn off our main breaker to power our house.
Perfect for many uses and look forward to our future setup.

Over all, it is a good product and now that it is installed, it should be good to go for years.
1. The first problem I ran into is that there is a limit to size wire this unit can take. I had to pull out all of existing wire to the panel, which meant removing the wall board and insulation.
2. The next problem is that the screws that pull in the wire clamps were difficult to turn and had a shallow depth. Meaning easy to strip the screws if not careful.
3. After mounting the box to the wall I couldn't attach the face place. The face plate slides over the back of the mounting box, which is flush to the wall. I loosened the screws to get the cover on, but it's sloppy. The next time I have an hour free I'll take it all apart and put some shims behind the box to give some clearance to put the cover on.
I know this may sound confusing, but if you look at the box, the cover actually forms a 'letter L', the back edge of the cover needs to slip between the back of the box, and the wall that you mount to.
In other words, when you mount this to a wall, you use 2 screws. The screw that is closer to the top of the box should be left a little loose so you can slip the cover on.

Just for info this may sound like a complicated method but i was not about to buy a 240 volt generator to simply run my FHA furnace that only requires 120 Volt input. If you follow this procedure all 120 Volt generators will work fine on 120 Volt furnace . One last thing to be safe i also would use a 12/2 Generator cable from the Generator to the inlet box,
When the power goes off flip the transfer SW to Generator and have safe power source to heat your home, with basic tools and hands this is not a difficult task.
Good luck

The good: They are decent quality and come with a plastic sleeve that is handy, they do some filtering, seem to feel comfortable on one hour ride.
The not so good: I expected a more visible filtering. In many situations I hardly feel the improvement. They are polarized, yes, but the angle is 45 degrees, so maximum effect is obtained if i tilt my head 45 degrees, as opposed to my other glasses. Not sure why. I am also afraid that the lenses are quite sensitive to cleaning from what I read on recent reviews. A sturdier case (not the square hardcase - the plastic sleeve would be preferable. The hard case does not fit in the glove compartment very well, it takes too much space. I hope the manufacturer is reading these reviews by buyers.
