The Reliance Controls PB30 NEMA 3R Power Inlet Box is an outdoor/watertight electrical inlet for a 30 Amp L14-30 generator cord. It is designed to be located outdoors where the generator is running to prevent dangerous carbon monoxide fumes from the generator from entering your house. This inlet box is then safely hardwired through an outside wall directly to the transfer switch or panel, eliminating the need for cords running through windows or doors. It is designed to be wired directly to the transfer switch or panel by using one of the four combination 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch knockouts (one on each side, bottom and back). The exclusive patented design provides generous wiring space and facilitates rough-in. The face of the box is removable for easy placement and wiring. It is constructed of steel with rugged, anti-corrosive powder-coat paint and has a spring-loaded inlet cap to prevent moisture front entering the connector inlet when not in use.
- The rain tight NEMA 3R PBN-Series steel power inlet box is designed for use with Pro/Tran transfer switches, Panel/Link transfer panels and generator-ready load centers.
- The front entry inlet has a weatherproof spring cover which closes when not in use to protect the inlet from the elements.
-It is designed to be installed outdoors in an open area where the generator is being used to avoid carbon monoxide hazard.

works great. See photos for install. you will need a hole saw bit or spade bit to drill through siding and band joist or side sheeting to run waterproof conduit. My only complaint is that I wish the supplied ground that connects to the box from the outlet was solid 10 gauge copper instead of stranded... when connecting the 10-3 Romex solid ground to the box with the outlet 10 gauge stranded, you almost have to over-tighten due to the slight differences in diameter between solid and and stranded. I suppose you could just use an electrical nut to tie the grounds together though..

Like other reviews, this is a great quality box, the manufacturer recommends using minimum 10 gauge / max 8 gauge wire, we installed the box with 8 gauge wire without problem, easy to install, but hire a Certified electrician to do this job, this box must be used with a combination of a transfer switch or Interlock, I decided to use an interlock.

We bought a generator to run to our breaker box for when the power went out. I wanted to have the generator setup in the backyard so I could lock our gate and keep the generator safe from
being stolen or vandalized while running. I bought this so that I could run wire to our backyard to allow our generator to plug in where it eas located which was much cheaper than buying 75 foot power cord to run from the generator to the breaker box. It also allows me to disconnect and put up the generator when not in use.
I attached a picture of the current setup. I recently bought a shed though that I am going to setup my generator to run inside it, so I will be moving this to my shed. This will also allow me to plug into this to have power in my shed via an L14-30 extension cord with 4 Power connections. Then if the power does go out, can just plug in the generator and turn off our main breaker to power our house.
Perfect for many uses and look forward to our future setup.

Well constructed and a nice size for a generator power input receptacle. Even though this is rated for 30 amps it does accept 8 gauge wire but be warned, it will be a little bit of a struggle getting the case closed. I used 8 gauge to a separate load center which is *not* tied to commercial power (transfer switch or otherwise). This inlet box handled the gauge just fine. Fits the bill.
