It was not worth $19 bucks

Great cast, Jennifer Hudson did an outstanding job singing. The story was all over the place, all of a sudden Aretha had two kids, the movie did not explain who their father was. There were a lot of questions that were unanswered.

J Hud Was Transformative
Verified purchase
It's unbelievable watching J Hud hold her face and emote in her eyes in a way that's entirely NOT J Hud. What an unreal talent this young woman has.
I think this is the only thing I've ever seen the youngest Wayans do that's memorable and skilled. Kudos to him!

Amazing!!!! Queen Aretha!!

Wow just Wow!! I felt every emotion in this film, so it's no surprise to me that i'm in tears as the credit roles. I really hope Ms. Franklin knew how important she was and that her impact went further than just her voice, she changed the game. :)

Can’t get the damn movie to play for more than a minute OR two before it keeps logging out,! Yes, I have looked online for ALL the fixes which pisses me off that I have to trouble shoot when I paid 20 for a movie rental. Still not working and I use prime all the time! Yes on this device. Amazon can’t just give u a link to email for help….it’s all hidden so we give up and never get the $ back…it’s exhausting

Well Done Tribute

This film is beautiful. You get to see the story of Aretha finding her own voice. It shows the ups and downs throughout the prime years of her career. from the humble beginnings to the triumphant greatest selling gospel album of all time. The cast is amazing. Jennifer embodied not only the essence of Aretha but the heart an soul of Aretha. She got her down pat right to her speaking voice and walk. The music was everything. I loved how it told the stories behind each song. Oscar worthy film. Loved so much I had to watch it twice.

Very powerful movie!

I read mixed reviews. But I saw the trailer and it gave me the chills...that rarely happens. I watched it and wow! I was so touched, moved, and inspired by the main actresses performance and the whole portrayal and how they went about it. I think she will be nominated for an academy award! IF you have experienced any of what Aretha had gone through in your life especially as a child, you will either be triggered by the movie and probably not like it or you will be moved, brought to tears, and inspired by the courage and faith that brought her to the woman she became, like me, even though I am a man. If you have some understanding of the dynamics of abuse and the healing it takes to recover this is a movie for you. There are so many wonderful scenes in this movie. Like in the beginning it shows the collaboration of the musicians with the main actress (Aretha) compiling a newly formed song. It was simply magical.
