Resplendent in Ruby (Colors of Scandal Book 10) Kindle Edition
Julianna Leah Winslow, Lady Mayborne, is three years a widow. While packing items to clear clutter, she finds an antique jade elephant among her husband’s possessions. When a secret panel pops open revealing a cryptic note with the name of his best friend—the man she’d wanted to marry as a young girl—she summons James no matter that seeing him again will open old wounds not fully healed.
James Percival Holles, Earl of Braxton, has just turned forty-two. It’s time to marry and set up his nursery, but every relationship he’s had has ended in disaster. When an urgent summons comes from Julianna, he’s immediately wary but intrigued, and agrees to travel to the Berkshire estate to perhaps vent his spleen and air old grievances. He would not let the fact that he still had a tendre for her sway his attitude.
Emotions explode each time they’re together, to say nothing of her twenty-year-old son’s animosity toward James, yet when long-held secrets are brought into the light, both he and Julianna find a shaky peace and a new direction. As the August days pass, they give into the desire brewing between them, and trust is put to the forefront. If they can stop hiding their true selves and surrender to the strength and security found as a couple, they’ll have a chance to grasp a second chance at love.

When the man she married dies of a heart attack, she is left lonely💔 , and three years later her twenty year old son, Benjamin is nearly finished with his schooling and her job is done..
She never knew for sure which man was the father. But young Ben is now the fifteenth Viscount of Mayborne, and James,🐺🍆⛲💪 the other man, now 42, is the rogue Earl of Braxton🐺🍆⛲💪. He never married.
James🐺🍆⛲💪 travels to see Julianna💃💋 to settle an old score, he tells himself. But really, he is still in love💘 with her and over the years, all the other women were only poor substitutes. He is a man of certain proclivities, and never found a woman who needed him and accepted and wanted his dominant side.

I also got this ebook from Amazon📚 for 99¢.
I loved this book because of the second chance for love 💘, and that it somewhat paralleled my own life, except for me, the roles of the two men were reversed, and both are dead and gone now. My First love💘, was my last true love💘.
This story is quite emotional and readers will shed a few tears along the way. I did think the ending was drawn out for way too long.
The book includes ADULT scenes of light bondage .
Slowly they find their way back to each other with the help of the h's son. There is lovemaking, outside of marriage - heat level 4 out of 5 and described several times.
No villains, no real drama, romance started 20 years ago with them but each went their separate ways.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA and steam. 1 crude word used and age was wrong in one part of the story. Also, since both the H and the h's husband would have been in Parliament, I was surprised they didn't run into each other. I wanted the epilogue to be more than a few months in the future. (ljb)
Story about second chance love. Widowed three years ago, “Jules” find a jeweled elephant containing a note addressed to her late husband. The note was written by James, who grew up with Jules and her husband Phillip, attempt to mend their scared relationship. Wanting to return the elephant to James, who had been one of her suitors years before. When James arrived to retrieve the elephant he and Jules felt the familiar bowl.
Well they get a second chance at love and will he be get the heir that has been on his mind.
Great story which is part of an extensive series.

James had broken off contact with Julianna and Patrick when he learned that they had become betrothed. Still she remained the love of his young life. But 20 years have come and gone with a lot of life experiences, and neither are the children they were when they last saw each other.
These two characters needed to do a lot of self-reflection and communication to resolve their past issues so that they had the possibility to move forward into a new relationship.
I enjoyed this story, and am making plans to read the earlier books in this series. This is a historical, second-chance, friends-to-enemies-to-lovers, steamy romance. Characters are well written and believable, as are the situations in which the suthor places them.

I started it, and it was so good that I had difficulty putting it down. I was afraid I would miss something. The romance was amazing. He knew how to love her and to make her forget the sadness and deprivation that she had suffered when she was married. I would have missed all of this if I hadn’t bought it and read it. What a lovely read. Well done Mrs Sookoo, you have done it again. Fantastic book. Excellent. x
