Rhys hadn’t expected a trip to Cottage Grove, Oregon to start with a house being shot. If it had stopped there, it would have been manageable. A drive-by shooting that the cops should be able to chase down. But nothing was easy in his world. And this case went to hell right from the beginning….

Taylor, an army vet herself, was struggling to regain a normal life after she was injured in an accident while serving. Taking on a war dog appealed, as it gave her a connection that they could both relate to, but she had to pass some kind of interview before she could keep Tallahassee. An interview with someone with a prosthetic just like hers. Only he was far more capable than she was.

Still, that was the least of her worries, as things go from bad to worse, and she realizes these attacks were very personal…and very close to home….

Another FANTASTIC story by Dale! This story is actually about two war heroes who were injured during war time and of course the war dog. The dog, Tallahassee, was rescued by Taylor who Rhys goes to check on only to get embroiled with Taylor's problem. We kind of knew who the bad guy is but Taylor has to prove it was him. It takes a bit for these two to get together but they make a great couple along with Tallahassee. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book.

Taylor has come into possession of a war dog and Rhys has been has been tasked with deciding if Taylor is the one for Tallahassee. Instead he finds she is being threatened and gaslighted in her own hometown. The dog seems to be the only one supporting her. But Rhys is the man to help Taylor, not just with the threats but with her history of sexual harassment and by calling in support for her safety and medical issues. A great slow burn romance that brings two broken people, and a wayward dog, together in the best way possible.

Dale Mayer's out did herself on the topic the choice for book 17 of the K9 files. Female assault is always a hard topic to talk about. In the civilian world it is often down played or ignored. Because as we know women deserve what they get. But from what I have heard about the military by my sister, it is even worse. In most cases from the time women were allowed into all branches if the military, the brace did not know what to do with them ok r how to handle them. And they sure did not know how to handle the relationship problems that arose with men and women in close quarters. Much less when abuse occurred.

I always love Da ln e Mayers books and found this K9 adventure to be extremely sensitive and thoughtful on multiple levels.
