This story didn't thrill me because most of it was in the heroes head listening to his thoughts about Everything. The action was Ok but too much of his thoughtful opinions got boring. It not a bad story so I'm going to read the next story and Hope it's more Exciting!!??

Honestly I was very excited by this collaboration and the plot of the story. Unfortunately I think it was a bit of a miss in book 1. I feel like the story started out great with world building and character development and once they got "in game" it fell apart a little. For example the need to have the main character be pointed out numerous times as a master of plans when he really hasn't planned anything or at least anything crazy. It felt like a forced character trait. Also the main character is very inconsistent. He wants to be a healer then he enjoys being an assassin then when the party is started its like he forgets he can fight and even said he's just throwing heals to feel like he's doing something. Him during a party fight are some of the more boring parts of the book. Its not exciting to have him just stand there watching the others fight. He then comes off as condescending when he's talking about the fire mage saying things like "maybe the kid just needs a chance" .....your the same age!!! Also being referred to as a veteran because he's level 8??? The guards at the entrance to the slums were in the 20's. He's still a noob. I will give book 2 a chance but I hope some of those flaws are fixed

A LitRPG taking place on a college campus after graduation, I found this a somewhat difficult-to-classify read. Yes, there were some enjoyable parts and the character class combination of the main character was entertaining.

I did like the premise - individuals hired on contract to work as NPCs in various shops for 8 hours a game day and free to do whatever they wanted the rest of the time.

Some political viewpoints/lectures and a few too many sophomoric innuendos did hinder some of my enjoyment, but on the whole to story moved well and the the LitRPG portions were well done.

It's obvious there is more in the series (there are other books out in it for example) but it didn't end on the cliffhanger and was, instead, a complete in itself book with an overreaching story arc to be explored in future books.

I would give it 3.5 stars if it was a possible rating

I found the first book to be immensely entertaining. On the first book alone, I would rate it a 5/5. However, each following book is progressively worse then the previous. Because of this, I've lowered my rating on this book because I no longer think the series is worth reading, so why leave a good rating and convince people to get attached? The first books is entertaining and fast paced. Each subsequent books is more and more boring with less and less happening in the story. There's hardly any action or litrpg elements; it's almost exclusively childish teen banter which, coincidentally, has also gone downhill from the first book. What before was funny and entertaining banter that was mixed into the story has instead lost most of its humor, sounds forced, and has become the bulk of the story. And considering the books are long, that's saying something. I skip pages and pages at a time trying to find parts worth reading, and in the end I don't think I'm going to finish the 3rd book (at 40% currently).

TLDR: don't start the series

Normally when I read a collaboration one authors voice terms to outshine the other. I don't feel that was the case at all for this book.
Story is solid but it seemed to slow down a little on the RPG aspect and focus a little too much on the story which is good and bad. Reading this as a gamer,I would be cheesing the system of the bad. He gets experience for using his skills? Why isn't he being them to death to level up? If that is he really is trying to make money. With access to a master assassin and poisoner in his back pocket he could be well on his way to dual classing if not for self-defense. Next he should be carrying his healing spells anytime he has mana. That's what a real gamer would do. I will be reading the next book to see where this goes.

While the story is solid it is marred by two key issues. The first major issue is that the system which seems overly focused on quest completion as a sole optimal method of advancement which seems imbalanced for an MMO this also damaged the pacing as despite being at the centre of events the protagonist is still the weakest of his party by books end. On top of this towards the end of the novel the characters, who so far have seemingly no major political interests go on a series of political rants that fill between 1&3 pages dragging you out of the story. Finally I just have to say NPC Corp really dude? If you're going to use a name that in the nose at least elaborate that it's based on the founders names or something, otherwise it comes across as cheap and lazy.

I enjoyed this story which had me engaged for most of the time. It is a long book with quite a bit of action and pretty well edited. Can’t recall typos etc. A couple of minor faults were that at times the text was a bit verbose and did not achieve much. Also some logic flaws for me, the premise of having a job in game just seemed weird and inconsistent, and why did the MC downgrade to the slums if he was not sending money to his family, then when he gets a big pay day he just leaves the money in the bank. Really I don’t care, the story was good and I kept reading.

It seems Amazon really throws these at me so I figured id give one a go. Now I wouldnt say this book is amazing the whole inventory thing is weird to me who grew up on Tolkien and Pug the magician. But I will say its a page turner something decent enough to pass the time.

The characters arent paper thin and the story is interesting enough to keep you going. Im new to this whole living inside a game theme but it seems popular. I would say that while this is no 5/5 its good enough for me to be interested and I hope it gets a vol2.
