Rise of a new must own classic
Verified purchase
We love [[ASIN:B00947N6D8 Rise of the Guardians]]. After borrowing it from the library several times, I decided it was a new classic movie that we just need to own. The whole family enjoys the magical experience you get from watching it. The animation and plot are great. Even after multiple viewings, it still keeps us engaged throughout the whole movie.

I would not consider it a seasonal movie as it covers holidays such as Christmas and Easter and other childhood characters such as the Tooth Fairy, Mr. Sandman (awesome btw), and Jack Frost. It does have a boogeyman scene that may be too much for some young viewers. When my daughter was four she felt a little scared through that scene during her first viewing but once she got passed that part of the movie she was just fine. She did not experience any boogeyman dreams afterward either. (She had never heard of the boogeyman before this movie).

Undeniably a classic, watchable all year long though definitely timely during the fall and winter seasons, and renews the wonder and magic in all who watch it.

Always try your code!!!
Verified purchase
So upon first look, it seemed that the code was expired. I was kinda disappointed at this but decided to try and redeem it anyway. I use Movies Anywhere for my digital movie collection, so that was my first stop. To my surprise even though the paper said the code may not be valid after 3/12/2015 (which for me at time of purchase was 4 and a half years after that date) the code worked with no problem. I was able to watch the movie immediately without a DVD player. My advice is try your code it may still be vaild on some platforms. My husband loves this movie and so does my 5 year old son. Some parts are intense for younger veiwers but my son is a little advanced.

The only CONS for me was that it came with no sleeve and the literature in the case was never updated. I got a coupon for $8 to get tickets to a movie that came out almost 7 years ago.

A 21st Century Fairy Tale
Verified purchase
The first time I saw this animated film in a movie theatre I was truly shocked by Alec Baldwin's Russian tough guy Santa Clause but I bought the DVD anyway. This film gets better with each viewing and I am filled with belly laughs when Santa speaks.
The animation is extraordinary. The attention to detail and the color scheme are so rich.
The story of fear vs. hope; nightmares and dreams, is very clever. The actors voices are all wonderfully entertaining. The dialogue is witty enough for adults to enjoy while the action delights children.
Jack Frost (Chris Pine) is so adorable and vulnerable. He is the center of the story seeking to learn who he is and what is his purpose. Hugh Jackman is a joy as an Australian 6 foot tall Easter Bunny. The tooth fairy is precious as are all her little helpers. And of course the children who lose hope and then regain it are a delight.
I do not know why this film did not even get a nomination at the Academy Awards.
This is a heartwarming, fun movie. And it is even better watching it on my laptop with headphones on.

Very Good Action Movie for kids (and adults). Not suitable for 5 and under.

I bought this for my 6 (nearly 7) year old daughter. Several of her classmates have seen it and their parents recommended it to me. She had 4 baby teeth pulled and I wanted to provide her with a treat that would keep her quiet for a while.

It is an animated super hero team movie with Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Sandman & Jack Frost as the "Avengers." It is fast paced, almost frantic at some points. The BoogieMan is the dark and sinister villain and he is scary! In the end, the good guys win with the help of children.

My daughter loved it but at some of the intense scenes she kind of hid her eyes. The ending is uplifting. I don't think I would show this to a child younger than 6 (first grade). I don't think a child younger than 3 could process the action enough to follow the story. Between 3 and 5 I can see this as something that nightmares are made of. But by 6, alone or in a group, the kids should enjoy it.

I also suspect that at 6 they will have things they want to talk about after seeing it. My daughter & I chatted a little after the movie. I suspect there will be more discussion on it soon (along with a repeat viewing).

Lots of extras and most of them are on the Blu-ray disc.

At $9.99 it is a great value. My digital copy code didn't work with Flixster or Ultraviolet. When I read the full text on the code paper it said something like, "may not be valid after April 15, 2015." I was able to redeem it directly into iTunes. I went to my account, redeem and entered the code and downloaded the movie.

If you want to feel like a child again....
Verified purchase
I fondly remember all those holiday cartoons and movies as a kid. And that joy I felt watching them unfold and delight in the stories and they joy, well of being a child. I was suprised at how much this movie brought that back. I'd give it more then 5 stars if I could. This was a treasure, and I'm sure I'll be watching it many more times in the future.

Hope? check. Joy? check. Laughs? check. I can't think of anything more you want from a movie. This was simply awesome. Young and old alike. pull off those tethers of time and responsibility that weigh on the shoulders are you get older, and just enjoy the delight in this show.

A worthy top shelf addition for those with 3D in mind.

Recently having purchased a 3d television, I have been revisiting some of the movies from the pixar dreamworks line-up. I vaguely remember a preview for this when it came out, but it largely flew under my radar. On its own, it is as good as some of the better CG animation. Its funny, it has good story telling. The visuals augment these to great ability. This is all to be expected with Pixar or Dreamworks. What really sets this apart is the 3d. Lots of panorama, tons of perspective. Explosions and little magical sparkles pepper the foreground. The movie has lots of movement and action, BUT not jarringly so. If you are purchasing with 3d in mind, this movie will be one of the ones that will put a smile on your face and remind you what it is to be a kid again. A worthy top shelf addition.

A visual assault rife with hyperactivity and violence.

Families will not miss out by skipping this movie that offers nothing remotely related to a calm holiday season. From start to finish, the story essentially portrays "soldiers" [guardians - of what...who knows] engaging combat with an enemy, then realizing in conclusion that even the enemy will eventually succumb to sleep. This is the crux of the film.

From the over-sized, unnecessarily loud, glittery/sparkly, stomping, clomping, crunching, pelting that has to be shoved aside for a moment to get to a strange and confusing story line that never allows for thinking but commands the viewer's attention, this "art" is a deeply condescending visual and audio assault. It is not a warm, cozy, memorable holiday film that families will find a moral message in which to build on. An unfortunate waste of time.

A great movie! My daughter (4 years old) is in love with jack frost. She made me rent this movie 3 times before I gave in and bought it. She has dreams about helping jack frost defeat bad guys. Every morning she wakes up and asks me if jack frost has come because she wants to take pictures of him.
My two year old loves this movie even though the villian scares her.
I always watch this with my kids for easter. Even though santa is in it. I just feel like there are no easter movies. This has become a classic in our house.
