WHAT A DISSAPPOINTMENT!
Verified purchase
From the fist episode of the first season of Riverdale, I loved the show. Sometimes it was a bit too soap opera-ish for me, but still, I thought it was an awesome show. I loved that some of the main characters were Gay, and I especially loved the gorgeous young guys with bodies that were to die for. Watching Archie, the main character, was enough to keep me glued to my seat.

I love to collect the shows I like on DVD’s. I guess it’s because I like being able to hold and have the actual physical shows or movies, rather than just download them or have the digital versions saved to a hard drive somewhere. It’s the same thing for me for music. I collect the actual CD’s instead of download the digital versions. And it’s also the same with books for me, I collect the paperback versions, I don’t read books digitally, I love to feel the actual paper in my hands. I guess you could call me “Old School”.

So… I bought the Riverdale, Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 and Season 4 DVD sets, and enjoyed watching each immensely. I had thought that Season 4 was the last season, and was extremely excited when I found there would be a 5th Season. Consequently, I waited and waited and waited for it to come out on DVD, and when it did, I bought it the first day of its release.

As soon as I got it in the mail, I put Disc 1 in my player, and began watching Season 5.

And… although Archie, was as hot a stud as ever, and it seemed worth watching the show just to get to see his shirtless chest and gorgeous thighs, not to mention, it was great having the Gay main characters still in the show, overall, the season was an extreme disappointment!!

The show must have gotten a new writer, because the writing was so AWFUL I could not believe it was the same show. The cast was still the same, but at least a third of the entire season was made up of episodes that turned out to be Broadway or Hollywood dance musicals, with the main characters singing with choreographed dancing. I mean, I’m gay and I know one of the many gay stereotypes is that gay guys like musicals, but, don’t believe it! I hate and despise musicals especially Broadway like choreographed dance musicals!! OH MY GOD, I had to fast forward through each musical episode to finish each DVD disc.

I had hoped that in the 5th season, the story of Riverdale might segue into something more paranormal, perhaps even into vampires or werewolves via the Teen Wolf storyline. But no. The writing of each episode, when it wasn’t a musical, was quite average to boring! And… the ending of Season 5… the final episode of the season… ended without much of an ending at all. The show went out with a whimper and was not memorable in the least!

I don’t think I’ve EVER been so disappointed with any show I’ve ever watched. The writing was so abysmal, that I wondered how the cast itself put up with it. The entire cast should have gone on strike or something, and refused to participate in Season 5 of Riverdale at all, until they got a decent writer to redo the entire script of each and every episode.

I thought of keeping the Riverdale Season 5 DVD set, just to have as part of my collection, since the other seasons sit in my collection on display. Or, even just keeping the season for the sake of being able to see more of Archies’ HOT body. But, alas, I could not in good conscience, own such drivel. Whoever the Season 5 writer was should be fired and never get another chance to write in Hollywood again. They completely ruined Riverdale Season 5 and may have even ruined the entire show for many, myself included!

Thank god I was able to return this God Awful DVD set and get my almost $40.00 back that I had paid.
Whether you have been a Riverdale fan or not, don’t waste your money on this horrible horrible season.

Grandparents get a gold star for giving granddaughter anything Riverdale
Verified purchase
Our 12 year old granddaughter is a Riverdale freak! Especially anything Jughead! Each to their own I guess. Regardless, she was quite pleased to receive this item for Christmas. It is good quality, but on the small side.

Will not play with a laptop
Verified purchase
The DVD case says this series will not play in a PC or by extension a laptop. I watch all of my movies using a laptop. If you use a PC or laptop you want to avoid all Warner Brothers DVDs with this warning in fine print at the bottom of the back cover.

You won't see this warning in the Amazon description. Possibly Amazon could require the vendors to include this warning in the future so customers don't have to waste time with these.

Hope this helps.
