Editorial Reviews
Review
"Kandi Steiner mixes together the perfect blend of heart and heat in On The Rocks -- a small town, Southern romance that'll have you thirsty for more Becker Brothers!" -- Author Dee Lagassee
"The chemistry between these two was so steamy, I felt like I couldn't bear to read another page if they didn't finally kiss. Kandi is amazing at that, writing a love so powerful, a chemistry so hot, that it just burns from the pages. It was heartbreaking, it was agonizing, but it was so worth the wait." -- NJ Penny Book Reviews
"I fell hard for this town, for the people, because there's nothing I love more than a small town novel that sucks you in and makes you feel like you're a resident not a visitor." --Patricia Rohrs, Words We Love book blog
"I have been a fan of Kandi and her books for about 4 years now. Every book she writes, I am hooked! This book is no different. I love how when she writes, you can picture the scenes so vivid in your mind, the characters, what they are wearing, their facial expressions, the scenes around them. PICK THIS BOOK UP!" -- Jacey Becker, advance reading copy recipient
"Just when you think you know how a story might end, Kandi changes direction, leaving you breathless. This isn't a book to shoot straight down but better to read, reflect, and meditate on what matters most to you." -- Jessica Perez, advance reading copy recipient
"I am so obsessed with Noah Becker. I want to have his babies. Never have I read such a kind hearted fictional boy that truly wants that all consuming love of an impossible woman. He is so kind and loving and he loves his momma and his brothers and his town and I just want to hug him and pet his hair." -- Laura, Goodreads Reviewer
"Kandi Steiner once again proves that she can make you laugh, cry, and swoon at the same time. On The Rocks was so much more than I expected." -- Jan Cassi, Goodreads Reviewer
"On The Rocks is superbly written, skillfully crafted and 100% addictive!" -- Chelé, 4 the Love of Books
"Steiner nailed everything about the genre that I love. Undeniable chemistry, fantastic banter, a lovable girl next door and a swoony, sexy hero that makes my heart beat a little faster. I am absolutely obsessed with these two." -- Sasha Erramouspe, advance reading copy recipient
"THE QUEEN OF ANGST HAS DONE IT AGAIN." -- Kenzie Mooney, advance reading copy recipient
"She's done it again, and once you've had a taste of these Becker brothers it'll leave you burning for more. Five golden whiskey stars!" -- Author Kathryn Andrews
"Some authors tell a story, but a truly talented author creates a world. A world that assaults the reader's senses and entrenches her so completely in the story that the characters are forever in her heart. With beautiful sunsets, close-knit families and a colorful cast of supporting characters, this is the world Steiner creates, and I never wanted to leave! I loved every aspect of this book, down to the smallest detail -- from the gossipy citizens and a loveable, hilarious, meddling octogenarian to the most memorable wedding the good folks of Stratford have ever seen. With a dose of angst, a sprinkle of humor and a great big bunch of heart, this book held me captive from beginning to end." -- BookAddict
"Page by page, Kandi builds a world deep in the heart of Tennessee, where whiskey flows, and the difference between Miss and Ma'am is prominent. I knew from the moment I read the synopsis, that this book was going to be one of those that stuck with me, and I wasn't wrong." -- Passionately Plotted

About the author

Kandi Steiner is an Amazon Top 5 bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.
An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.”
She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.
When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, planning her next adventure, or pole dancing (yes, you read that right). She enjoys live music, traveling, playing with her fur babies and soaking up the sweetness of life.

Our heroine, Ruby Grace, has returned to her small town in TN (I love any story about my home state!) to plan her wedding. She’s small town political royalty- the Mayor’s daughter, and is marrying a politician herself (super young, at age 19), just as her parents always wanted. But best laid plans always run amuck, as her entire world shakes when she comes across local bad boy, Noah Bennett, when she visits Scooter Whiskey to buy a present for her fiance.
I love Kandi’s stories- she immerses so much in this sitting while squeezing us with such depth of emotion. Her writing is always beautiful- smooth, engaging, captivating- but even then, I wasn’t sure I would love this book- I don’t love love triangles- the back and forth, the potential for cheating, the wishy washy emotions- not my favorite trope. But, trust in Kandi- because I adored this story, because this isn’t about the triangle- it is about love, what is should be, if only you let it.
I loved Ruby Grace- she’s really charming and lovable, she’s so loving and kind-hearted at her core- and much of her love and support of others led her on this path. She’s young, she doesn’t know what she wants, and Noah help her recognize that no one has ever really cared what she wants, including herself- but he does. And, Noah is swoon worthy- the perfect small town ladies man- the charismatic man with the reputation but a giant, vulnerable heart deep down, a man loyal and protective and committed to those he loves. A family man. He has such heart- I could practically feel it beating my hands. He’s so incredibly sexy in every way, and the chemistry these two have- the banter, the heat, the angsty push-pull- it just oozes from the pages. It is clear they see into each others souls, a visceral connection that is undeniable, and oh so beautiful.
One thing that I always appreciate about Kandi is how empowering her emotional journeys are for her heroines. The theme of self-acceptance, self-worth, charting your own course and owning who you are- her heroines are often caught between the lives they have and the lives they want or haven’t even yet envisioned, and the love story is told in parallel to emotional and captivating arcs around self-identity and self-discovery. Women who experience true love that inspire them to live for themselves, to be unapologetic in the pursuit of their own happiness, and to be bold enough to do what it takes, no matter how hard, to find that version of themselves that has eluded them- not for a man, but for THEMSELVES.
This love story is so charming- slow-burning, at times humorous, others agonizingly angsty, but always captivating- with such dynamic tension- these two have a giant age gap, are from different faces of their small town society, and Ruby is engaged. But love comes when you are bold enough to allow it to. There is just so much heart. Like a some good ole TN whiskey- this story goes down smooth, hits you with that energizing burn, and leaves you warm and content.
4.5 stars
Ruby Grace, the Mayor's daughter, has just become engaged and comes back to her small town in Tennessee to put her wedding together. When she visits Scooter Whiskey to buy her husband-to-be a barrel of whiskey, she runs into one of the towns local bad boys, Noah. He's the good ole boy that loves the ladies, but doesn't settle down. But what people don't see is that he loves hard and he's a family man at heart. He's just waitin for the right woman to saddle up.
I have to admit, at first I was a little concerned we were getting another book about an unavailable woman and the guy that was going to steal her away. It sounded a bit familiar. Fortunately, it wasn't just that. It was a book about friendship, family and pursuing ones dreams while being a team. Supporting one another as opposed to one person supporting the other and not getting any support in return. Ruby Grace was that person. She was just supporting her fiancé in his bid to become the next political icon. But he never once asked her what made her happy. What made her click. And Noah recognized that on day one. He was the swoony hero to ask her what SHE wanted. What would make HER happy. He got me from the get go. Literally taking the shirt off his back for the comfort of another. He was a true small town gentleman. But Ruby Grace couldn't see what was right in front of her. Her young 19 year old mind may have been clouded over. But sometimes it takes the words from a wise and aged person to make you see the light.
"Anyone can lead an ordinary life, child. But the best adventures are reserved for the ones brave enough to be extraordinary."
Ruby Grace and Noah had an undeniable connection. There was a bit of push and pull when it came to the two of them, but it was obvious they had chemistry. A beautiful and radiant spark. Ruby Grace's personality just shined from the pages. She's the type of woman you appreciate and want to know more about. She shined. She had a love for others that was so strong you could feel it.
"You are the heroine just as much as he is the hero."
And Noah. What can I say about Noah? I could feel his heart. I could see his smile. I could grip onto his soul through the words. You could feel his emotions literally dripping from the pages. He was still a man's man, but he also loved his mama and his brothers like any good southern boy should. He is the man you want to be yours. He is what book boyfriends are all about.
"I just see you with my eyes." "No, No, you see me with your soul. And I feel you with mine."
Ahhhhh....This book was just beautiful and emotional and set the stage for the 4 Becker brothers. Although it was slow to get to our HEA, I enjoyed the tension and chemistry between the two main characters. I also enjoyed the wise and sage advice from the elders of the book. Some of the characters I could have strangled a bit, but that's to be expected. Kandi Steiner took us on a journey of self discovery and love in a small town where everyone's in your business and she did it with finesse.
Grab on to this book and enjoy a young woman's discovering her worth in the world and the man that will give it to her willingly. It's a fun yet emotional journey that will definitely please the romantic in you.
I loved this sweet story and the twist I didn’t see coming.
The Becker brothers are a joy to be around!
Top reviews from other countries

#1 On the Rocks - a sweet story about 2 people who get the wrong impression of each other when they first meet, but are clearly perfect for each other - it just takes a series of missed opportunities and mistakes for it to all fall into place.
#2 Neat - this story is much more passionate and steamy than the first. The couple find a passionate love but that their families struggle to support and leads to difficult decisions over loyalty. I enjoyed this even more than the first book.
#3 Manhattan - this a friends to lovers story but it has its own unique take on this idea.
#4 Old Fashioned - this is the final book and the love story is tender and deals with racial identity and domestic abuse. It also concludes the mystery of the death of Mr Becker senior - this mystery is woven through all of the books with little clues dropped throughout the series (do not just read book 4 because you will miss the gentle build up and subtle clues). There is no plot twist, and by the time the mystery is unveiled I had pretty much worked out the details, however this is not a criticism, I enjoyed piecing the clues together and anticipating the ending.
Need to make a mention of Betty - this character in her 80s is just delightful and has some of the best lines (book 3 especially) and I just loved this character!

This cover actually drew me in making me pick this for my next read by Kandi.. its beautiful and made me want to read this story badly... I feel like I want to give this story 5 stars but unfortunately it was lacking something for me but I did really really enjoy it.
So we have Noah.. rough ready boy with a past Noah.. still living near home in his small town in the whisky factory that his dad had a major part in.
Then we have Ruby Grace.. back in town to marry her doting political fiance.. she is giving up her life to support him in his new career...
But when Ruby Grace goes to buy her husband to be a gift these characters get more than they bargained for!
Angst.. swoon worthy moments.. emotions.. laughter and more is all combined to give us this great read!

On The Rocks is the first book in the Becker Brothers series where we follow Noah's story but we get to meet his amazing family of brothers and his adorable momma along the way which made me want to read their books to find out their stories as I completely fell in love with the Becker family.
Noah is one hot cookie, just a shame he's not real :( lol.
5 stars from me, I'd highly recommend this book!
