1970s roller-skate jams fuel this coming-of-age comedy as a group of young friends head over to the Sweetwater Roller Rink, where they find their modest talents are - at first - no competition for the trick skaters who rule the rink.

Lil Bow Wow deals with family women and most importantly roller skating
Verified purchase
This movie invokes a lot of nostalgia. I remember roller rinks. Roller Disco. The soundtrack is a great mix of 1970s Soul and Funk which always brings a smile to my face.

The story itself is a coming of age tale about Lil Bow Wow his family, women and roller skating. For instance his mother died which he and his father played by Chi McBride are still dealing with. Most of the movie however has a light mood as Bow Wow hangs out with his friends and they skate and plan for a big competition. It’s fun stuff and makes for an enjoyable film.

A total nostalgia fix!

I'm old enough to remember roller rinks (and still feel embarrassed at my inability to stay upright on skates) so it was a joy to watch all the great skating. The relationships, the music, the clothes...all of it was a most enjoyable nice trip back in time. Thanks for making this film available.

I recently had a bout of nostalgia and rented this movie (before Charlie Murphy's death) and I have to say that this is one of the greatest black productions that I have seen, it is on the same level as Friday. Roll Bounce is a classic movie and although it's primary audience is those of color I believe everyone can enjoy this movie. After watching this movie I came to the conclusion that Bow Wow has two great movies: Like Mike and Roll Bounce.

A ride down memory lane!
Verified purchase
One of my all time favorite fun flicks. Not the usual hood tales of death, murder, and mayhem just something fun to watch about youth growing up. Reminds me of my childhood when going to the roller rink was all that. the soundtrack contains some of the same Jamz we use to get down to when we were trying to skate. It is like a ride through memory lane for me that might be a reason why I like the movie so looking for something light and entertaining to watch this is a good choice.
