Rome on Digital HD!!
Verified purchase
I previously had bought Rome Seasons 1 and 2 on Blu-ray (the fancy cardboard packaging from their original release), but I was moved to buy this because it has the coveted digital copy. It is an amazing show, despite only being two seasons. I recommend it to everyone I know. The only thing that bothers me is that I can't for the life of me find Rome Season 2 in this format (that is, with the digital copy). I hope Amazon starts carrying it so I can own both seasons on digital and watch it on any device.

It's pretty good, content-wise. It's production values are somewhere out of the 1990's but overall it's good to watch

Good documentary, not lecture like
Verified purchase
Good documentary, not lecture like. Avery good way to learn about Rome's emperors mainly, I have watched it three times. The resolution did not matter to me, what matters really is that it doesn't bore you, by telling it like a movie...

I give the actual series a FOUR but Amazon a BIG ZERO.
WHAT IS GOING ON AMAZON?
I give the actual series a FOUR but Amazon a ZERO.
Amazon has butchered this series with errors. AMAZON has the episodes all mixed up on this series and they also have episodes that do not belong in this series. i GUESS YOU CAN CALL THEM BONUS EPISODES.
WATCHING IT IN ORDER WILL MAKE MORE SENSE. Then just watch the extra ones after, if you want.

The series actual name is: "Rome: Rise and Fall of an Empire."
in this order with 13 episodes.
1. The First Barbarian War - 21 July 2008
2. Spartacus - 28 July 2008
3. Julius Caesar - 4 Aug 2008
4. The Forest of Death - 11 Aug 2008
5. The Invasion of Britain - 18 Aug 2008
6. The Dacian Wars - 25 Aug 2008
7. Rebellion and Betrayal 1 Sep 2008
8. Wrath of the Gods 8 Sep 2008
9. The Soldiers' Emperor 15 Sep 2008
10. Constantine 22 Sep 2008
11.The Barbarian General 29 Sep 2008
12.The Puppet Master 6 Oct 2008
13.The Last Emperor 13 Oct 2008

There are 22 episodes listed for this series according to Amazon ...
They have 2 episodes that are both listed as episode 6 and also have 2 episodes that are both listed as episode 15, so it ONLY APPEARS to be 20.

These are the episodes listed that do not belong in the series:
Caligula: 1400 Days of Terror
Roman Vice
Pompeii Secrets Revealed
Gladiators: Blood Sport
Pompeii: Buried Alive
Rome's Hidden Empire - listed as the first in 2 ep 6's
Rome's Lost Harbor
Crassus: Rich Man, Poor Man - this is listed as one of the ep 15's but you can't watch it.
Weapons Of The Gladiators

Very meh. Would not watch again
Props are utter garbage. The scuta shields look like rubber and flop around everywhere, the armor is shapeless and made of thin leather, even for people like Augustus, and the actual battle scenes look ridiculous. The content is not bad, but by god the visuals are horrific. Casting is also hot garbage. Germanicus is an old-ass-man, Aurelian is scrawny and bald, and the less said about Constantine, the better.

Amazon also managed to somehow put all the episodes in the wrong order, so there's that.

Excellent Roman History Documentary series.
Great Documentary series especially episode 1 on Caligula. Amanda Ruggeri is absolutely fantastic in episode 1 of this documentary series along w/ Katie Parla, Dr. Darius Arya & all other historians in entire series on Ancient Rome. Amanda Ruggeri is 5 star eye candy!

Amanda Ruggeri is affectatious.
Ruggeri appears to be auditioning for Hollywood instead of acting like a journalist.
