Good light humor fantasy comedy

Imagine suddenly being to pitch so well that you get tabbed by your favorite team to pitch at the majors. Well, that is what happen sin this lightweight and too predictable fantasy-comedy. 12-year old Henry Rowengartner (Thomas Ian Nicholas) is a mediocre baseball player being raised by his single mom (Amy Morton). He breaks his arm and somehow his tendons heal strangely, giving him the ability to throw the baseball 100 mph. Sure enough, the last place Cubs wanna-be owner scoops him up with his own plans in mind. But fate has a different plan for the young phenom who he leads them to victory. This purely kids' fantasy has wonderful supporting cast in Gary Busey as has-been pitcher who is inspired by Henry; Dan Hedaya as the greedy Cubs executive who cares nothing for baseball; Daniel Stern as the childishly eccentric pitching coach; and John Candy as the sarcastic TV announcer. Daniel Stern also directed this family comedy.

Youthful Nostalgia and Baseball Fun

Good Movie for people, who grew up in the 90's or who enjoy Baseball fandom. As a Red Sox fan, I can relate to the cub fans on the site with reviews of hope and desire for a better team and hopefully a golden pitcher to make things come true. When I was a kid, I saw this movie and it felt kind of fun and got me interested in watching a few baseball games. It wasn't until my senior year in High School (2004 season) that the Red Sox won our ultimate comeback (the greatest comeback of any sports series) from 0-3 to beat our most hated enemies the Yankees (everyone hates the Yankees even Yankee fans :P ) and finally win the Championships. We've won again since then, but the first time after almost a hundred years was well worth it.

Was it Cheesy? Yes, but it's not a bad movie due to the cliches. I think if I were watching it in my adult mindset, I'd be laughing at the plot's absurdities, but as a kid I knew it was fun and whimsical. That's what people need to watch this movie with, not a critical eye, but a fun and whimsical mindset.

Don't lose hope guys, maybe next season the Cubs will have a great team.

Funny, funny, funny. Casting was perfect. Everyone from 6-yr-old to grandma loves this movie. Interesting how different people will watch it at different times. Has become a classic. I was on long flight and put it on for brother and sister sitting next to me in 2021. They had never seen it and laughed out loud.

A fun movie..just don't think logically.

This is a fun movie. Kids will enjoy it, and might even become one of their favorites.

The story of a kid breaking his arm and it healing wrong to make him throw hard, and he joins a professional baseball team is silly. The characters are likeable, and the ending is predictable. However it's still a blast to watch, just don't think too hard while watching.

Terrible streaming quality. Buffers every few minutes lasting at least 20 seconds every time. I’ve had all my connections checked by my wireless provider with no issues found. The problem is the movie
