I loved this series when it was shown on our local PBS station on mystery night in California. The information on gardening plus the beautiful English gardens are a lovely backdrop to the characters of two strong woman. In this episode, Rosemary and Nora (Mrs. Thyme) are planting a garden on the estate of a renown musician and composer. The musician bought the estate because his young wife loved it. A man with a backhoe is digging a hole for garden pool and discovers the bones of a horse buried under the vast lawn. A middle of the night visit by strangers in a car to the estate with shovels causes the musician, up working late, to go outside and investigate. The musician is shot. by whoever was trying to dig up more lawn. Rosemary, who is a light sleeper, heard the shot and sales up to investigate. She discovers the musician dead on the lawn. The women are drawn into investigating the murder because they liked the late musician, they like his young widow, and they hate the smarmy detective who is assigned the case.
Before her marriage, Nora was a policewoman. Rosemary is just extremely curious with a strong sense of justice. A very different kind of crime fighting duo.
