It is written in a way that keeps the suspense high. It is gritty at times and has an incredibly “realistic feel” for it being sci-fi.
The characters are done very well. They are interesting, realistic, quirky, flawed, and entertaining. Each one seems unique, has depth, and we already see some character development in book one. Many sci-fi books focus on story rather than character development but this book equally places importance on both.
A fun start to a new series!
With a new batch of characters, and very authentic action scenes, mixed with humor and twists and turns, this book will keep you on edge from start until finish.

The many ironic references to popular culture, Stargate etc., are cringeworthy and don't so much pull you out of your suspension of disbelief as they do yank you out by the hair before allowing a bunch of baboons to teabag your naked face.
The story would be 100 times better if it were written in the third person instead of the first person, but even at 100 times better, it would still be close to unreadable.
I can't remember ever feeling angry before at having spent money on a book, not even Fifty Shades of Grey which I contemplated using to line my cat's litter tray, so this is a new experience for me.
* Not a better love story than Twilight
* Stop using yut as a word
Actually, if you love your military sci-fi you will love this.
Great character build up, great story.
Well thought out.
