I’m convinced that literally the only reason this movie was made was to allow a crew of people to get paid to go to Mexico for a vacation. The acting itself isn’t horrible but the plot, the writing, the special effects...it’s a high budget version of ever horrible schlock movie from the 70s: The Plants that Ate the World, et al.
How this stuff gets green lighted is beyond my comprehension. Relatively low cost with high licensing potential as a midnight movie?
At any rate, I know people realize reviews can’t be trusted on here anymore...it’s a system that was easy to game and manipulate to convince people to see movies that nobody would otherwise sit through...but when you see a movie like this getting 5-star reviews, that’s a good indication that the studio and PR teams are in the house.
Trust me...unless you have 90 minutes to flush away that you’ll never get back, move on to the next option in Prime.
My thoughts go out to anyone who actually paid to sit through this garbage. RIP money that could have been used to see something decent.
