Tracey Kline left the only family she had for a man who broke more than her spirit, leaving her untrusting and on her own. When a twist of fate reveals pieces of the other no one else sees, will they be able to help each other mend their past hurts and learn to trust the chemistry and connection that’s too strong to deny?
~

I should have been expecting it because, well, it’s Melissa Foster, but she blindsided me again. I can take all the emotions when I know there’s an HEA coming. And Ms. Foster never disappoints!
This feeling of family, of real friendship, of sticking up and showing up for one another, and loving unconditionally in Melissa's books never fails to amaze me. Or to make me yearn for it. Every. Single. Time.
Running on Diesel was no exception. There is so much love flowing through the pages it is sure to warm your heart.
Diesel is growly and guarded. He doesn’t talk much, is imposing, and protective. He seems standoffish and keeps mostly to himself. And he’s protecting Tracey, while also getting on her nerves because she is her own woman.
Tracey’s a survivor, and she doesn’t take his shielding easily. I love how feisty Tracey is, and how she gives as good as she gets. I love that she doesn’t let him off the hook, and that she doesn’t back down.
He’s working as a bartender, and she’s waitressing at Whiskey Bro’s. There is so much tension between the two of them from the get-go, and so much chemistry. It’s not a spark, it’s a forest fire waiting to happen. It’s a wonder how they didn’t burn the bar down with it.
It takes something happening to her to get them moving in the right direction: toward each other, of course. Once they get it on, it’s explosive. I think this is Melissa’s hottest couple so far.
More than physical, their connection is soul-deep. They both have baggage, scars, and sadness in their past. They need each other more than they realize it.
Diesel has always felt the call of the open road because he’s been missing a home. Tracey has found a home in town, and friends, but her heart has been missing a piece. She is his home, and he is the piece she was missing. They can take on any road together.
Melissa Foster has knocked it out of the park again with Running On Diesel. I absolutely loved it!
Spoilers: The H is very sexually active … leaving the bar with women several times a week. In front of the h. Which is just a crappy thing to do. Why flaunt it? While we find out later that he didn’t sleep with all of them (the drunk ones), he did sleep with many of the sober ones (his words). And, of course (big sigh) the h was not in any type of relationship, never tried and definitely wasn’t sleeping with anyone else.
Tracey and Diesel have been circling each other for soooooo long, and throughout each book leading up to this one, you felt their burn, just waiting for it to explode. And man alive, did it ever! These two together spark a flame that is so bright, that it almost seems unreal. But on top of that, both of these characters have past hurts that motivate every one of their actions. When they finally let their guards down and share that with each other, you feel everything they are feeling. And you feel is DEEP.
It's hard to talk about this story without wanting to give it all away. Just know that it will take you on a wild ride, one that you will not want to end.
There are plenty of familiar faces who show up, helping to solidify all the love and friendship that always courses through Melissa's books. But we also get to meet some new people, and by "meet" I mean fall in love with instantly. Be ready for ALL THE FEELS.
Watching Diesel watch over Tracey until the pair of them work out their boundaries (are there any? No spoilers from me! lol) was wonderful. I laughed and cried as Tracey went from needing Diesel's protection to being his strength & protector was a beautiful journey. Tracey is amazing in her own right, tiny but powerful, and a wonderful match for Diesel.
I love all the Whiskeys and their extended brotherhood family, and they just become more special with every addition to their "family". Their stories can be stand-alone but are so much richer if one is familiar with the rest of Ms. Foster's world. Either way, don't miss the gruff and growly Diesel's story.

This is book 9 in an ongoing series that revolves around the Dark Knights MC and the Whiskey family in particular. This series is linked to other series by the same author but this series can be read independently of them without missing anything. There is no cliffhanger, but there is a hook to get you interested in an upcoming new series.
Diesel Black is a nomad member of the Dark Knights. He was, until recently, a bounty hunter. Now he works behind the bar for the Whiskeys and has done for 2 years. Diesel is a loner who doesn’t even like people to touch him. He has empty sexual encounters and holds himself back from everyone. However, he is protective and loyal.
Tracey is a waitress at the bar where Diesel works and his boss and friend Red asked him to keep an eye of Tracey when she started working there 2 years ago. She had just escaped an abusive relationship and felt she had nowhere else to turn so ended up at the shelter. The Whiskeys have taken her under their wing and she has begun to thrive again. She’s so much stronger mentally and physically from all the martial arts training and having the loving support of her friends.
Tracey and Diesel are very attracted to each other but are unaware how the other feels. Then one day Diesel cracks his restraint and all bets are off.
I love these books. The rough talking, hard loving Dark Knights are a lot of fun to read about. They are all about the community and family and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty in the name of protected the things that they love. Diesel may be less gregarious than his fellow MC brothers but he has the strong protective thing down pat.
This book starts out as something that looks quite predictable; damaged growly biker falls for cute vivacious girl and they all live happily ever after. It doesn’t stay that way though as there are lots of layers to this book. There are the parts which are about the dangers that women face and how they can protect themselves, there are the parts about family and friendship, the parts about navigating a relationship and trying to do the right thing to make it work and there are parts about working out what will make you happy. There is an awful lot about family in this book, which is no different from the other Whiskey books, in particular the love of mothers who are no longer around. There are some pretty poignant moments as well as the sexy romantic times we expect from these books.
I very much enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read about Redemption Ranch, now we’ve been introduced to the people there.

Running on Diesel is book #8 of The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor contemporary romance series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but I feel that they are best read in order.
The is the story of Desmond ‘Diesel Black’, a nomadic member of the Dark Knights motorcycle club. The club is made up of keen bikers who help their communities. Diesel has been drawn to waitress Tracey Kline since he first met her, but she was running from an abusive relationship and needed space to rebuild her life.
Tracey has worked as a waitress at the Whiskey’s bar for two years. Recently customers have been scared from her tables by an over-attentive Diesel; she’s had enough of the caveman act from Diesel and she intends to tell him to back off, but does she really mean it? Why is he the man filling her dreams?
In a story where secrets are revealed and the past comes back to haunt Diesel, these two people form a bond and find lost families. It was great to see Diesel change from someone who needed the freedom of the open road to a man who wanted to put down family roots. I was also pleased to see how Tracey grew in confidence and came back fighting after a traumatic experience. I do enjoy the ethos of the Dark Knights and the Whiskey family is definitely one to fall in love with.

Once you start this book you will not be able to put it down, and although it is part of a series you do not need to have read the others - however after this you'll want to read them!

Diesel is a nomad, his home is the road and his heart belongs to no one. When he sets his eyes on Tracey his fierce protectiveness begins to show itself in a sexy grouchy, growly way 🔥😍 *fans self*
I liked Tracey when she gained confidence, she was sassy and brave, both herself and Diesel have past’s that have affected them, and damaged their hearts, but when they come together their connection and chemistry is clear to see.
This was a beautiful love story, the brotherhood & family within the MC is such a comfort to read, they are loyal and supportive, and have plenty of love to give, there was also plenty of humour, passion, and angst for Diesel and Tracey on their journey to HEA
