Blog postSo…my 13-year old self just swooned through the future to fall into my 39-year old arms as a major dream has come true…
I will be writing the 33 ⅓ series installment on the band that changed me forever–Babes in Toyland–and their seminal album Fontanelle! 33 1/3 Books made the announcement this afternoon, revealing their next 15 picks from an open call of 400 submissions earlier this year.
Coming Fall 2022, here’s a short summary of what you can expect:

Blog postI thought the best thing to do during this Mercury Retrograde would be to tinker with this website, and it’s all gone horribly wrong. If you happen to be visiting me while I’m cleaning things up here, yes, I know this is chaotic, and yes, I’m working on tidying things up. Meanwhile, please feel free to browse around my News and Latest Work sections, and feel free to email me at LeFilleHST@gmail.com if you have any questions or work for me. Thank you!

Blog postI’m very excited that Pseudopod has adapted not one but two short stories this year. The first is “Dr. Lambshead’s Dark Room,” that appeared in a special Edgar Allan Poe episode (#699). I’m not sure, but this may be the first time I share actual billing with Poe! Initiate self-actualization mode.
The other was one was “Dive in Me,” which I wrote with Jesse Bullington, and is a story near-and-dear to both of us as it is set in a town based on where we both grew up and became friends. A7 months ago Read more -
Blog postCongratulations to Desirina Boskovich, who has done it again with the glorious coffee table book LOST TRANSMISSIONS: The Secret History of Science Fiction and Fantasy. Published by Abrams Image, all sorts of people are spilling the beans in here: Charlie Jane Anders, Neil Gaiman, Paul Tremblay, Molly Tanzer, Nick Mamatas, Annalee Newitz, Christie Yant, Darran Anderson, Jesse Bullington, William Gibson, and many many more. I especially enjoyed the essay about Jane Loudon, Assassin’s Cree2 years ago Read more

Blog postI am pleased as punch to announce that I will be a guest at this year’s OUTER DARK SYMPOSIUM in Atlanta, Georgia. It’s been an evolving and wonderful conference, with each year outdoing the other, and I was sorry to have missed last year in CA. I was honored to be at the first one, and looking forward to reconnecting to old friends, and making new ones. Will I see you there?
What is especially exciting this year is this: “This year we’re beyond excited to welcome our largest line2 years ago Read more -
Blog postI’m packing on up for my flight to Denver tomorrow. I’m really excited to be visiting the area again, and finally visiting the famous Tattered Cover bookstore in Colfax, Denver.
I will be there Wednesday, December 5th celebrating the release of MECHANICAL ANIMALS: TALES AT THE CRUX OF CREATURE AND TECH with my co-editor Jason Heller, and contributors Stephen Graham-Jones, Molly Tanzer, and Carrie Vaughn. It’s going to be a really great reading with signings to follow, and if you are i2 years ago Read more -

While it is true Marilyn Manson’s MECHANICAL ANIMALS has turned 20 years old, another MECHANICAL ANIMALS has been just born, and I hope will grow up to be as long-lasting and epic.
This is the anthology I co-edited with the brilliant Jason Heller (whose STRANGE STARS came out earlier this year, and needs to be on your gift list, if not already). While I haven’t talked about it too much, this project has been 5 years in the making, and2 years ago Read more -
Blog postI just realized this morning that CALLS FOR SUBMISSION has been out in the world for six months! It’s been a really great experience and I want to thank everyone who bought the book, bore with me during promotions, took the time to read it, review it and blurb it, and championed it either on your social media or through interviews and publications. I also want to thank my publisher/editor Mark Givens and Pelekinesis for midwifing and delivering this strange baby into the world with me. As I w3 years ago Read more
