The south is known for great cooking but so many great recipes get lost in the new recipes of today. The old classics are still as good today as they were back then. Southern cooks are famous for delicious creations. Even though I love today's new wave of southern food, I still make and enjoy the old southern fare that we grew up on. This cookbook is a homage to all the great southern cooks who left their legacy. This is simple rib sticking food. There is not much fancy about it but just good food and memories.
Biscuits, fried chicken, sweet tea and cakes get all the glory in southern cooking, but there is so much more to it. This cookbook revives the southern fare that was served on tables years and decades ago. Times were tough and you made do with what you had.
Cobblers, crisp and crumbles are one of my favorite comfort foods. You can eat them warm or cold. They are great for dessert or leftover for breakfast. Most recipes are easy to make and can be made quickly. While dinner is cooking, you can stick a cobbler in the oven and it is ready for dessert.
Included are my favorite new and all time classic recipes. The great thing about cobblers and crisps, they are universally loved by everyone. They are famous in the south and made year round. With canned or frozen fruit, you no longer have to wait to have your favorite cobbler when the fruit is in season. They are also a great way to use up excess fruit and economical to serve.
I love homemade cookies but I do not always have the time to make cut out or sliced cookies. Drop cookies are the easiest cookies to make. Just mix the ingredients and drop on baking sheets. Chocolate, oatmeal, coconut, cake mix, peanut butter and most any flavor cookie you desire is included in this cookbook. Whether you are looking for a cookie for dessert or for any occasion, you will find them in this cookbook. Drop cookies are a great way to get the kids involved in baking.
Store bought mixes can be turned into delicious meals, side dishes and desserts. Starting with a mix is time saving and easy to make delicious dishes. This book includes recipes using cake mixes, quick bread mixes, hot roll mixes, brownie mixes, biscuit baking mixes, pudding mixes, pancake mixes, cornbread mixes and more. These days, everyone wants everything fast. The Instant Pot is all the craze but foods just taste better slow cooked. I love my Instant Pot but I still use my old fashioned slow cooker. I do not use the slow cooker function on my Instant Pot.

There are three things guaranteed when visiting the south. They are delicious food, hospitality and hot humid summers. If someone tells you “Bless Your Heart”, don't take it personally, you are just not use to our ways. As a lifelong southerner, remembering our southern heritage is important to me. These classic recipes must not get lost in history.
I like to make as many items from scratch as possible. Homemade recipes are budget friendly and I know what I am feeding my family. Prepared foods are loaded with sodium and many ingredients that I do not want to feed my family. Many recipes I have used for years but it is nice to have them all in one handy reference book. This is an excellent cookbook and reference source for beginning cooks, new brides and for anyone who loves cooking from scratch.
I love cooking for my family and friends. The information and recipes in this book are from decades of cooking experience. Everyone knows my freezer and pantry are always full. Family and friends know they are always welcome at my table. Single family members and friends tend to drop by for a quick meal or dessert. Having a full pantry and freezer makes it easy to make quick meals and share memories with them.
If you are looking for gourmet recipes or fancy ingredients, this is not the book for you. This is homemade and homestyle cooking at it best.
Stocking a freezer or pantry can be overwhelming in the beginning. It is also expensive to buy everything needed at one time. Stock your freezer and pantry a few items at a time. When I first started stocking my pantry, I spent an extra $5 each week on items for the pantry. Start slowly and steadily increase your pantry items. If you are making rice, make double the amount and freeze the extra. If you are browning ground beef, cook a double batch and freeze the extra meat. Start slowly and steadily increase your freezer meals based upon your freezer space, time and money.
With spring and summer BBQ's and picnics fast approaching, this cookbook provides easy and tasty vegetable and fruit salads, side dishes and vintage jello salad recipes.

Frozen fruit salads are the perfect end to a hot day. They keep well in the freezer and are very easy to make. The fresh summer fruits and readily available frozen fruits make the salads easy for everyday.
No matter what season it is, you will find plenty of recipes using seasonal fruits and vegetables. I've even included our favorite homemade dressings. They are a nice change of pace from bottled dressings.
This cookbook includes 400 of our favorite southern salads, side dishes, soups and dressings. No matter if you are a vegetarian, carnivore, low carb, gluten free or paleo, you will find recipes to fit your food plan.
I called my mother the Queen of Jello. We had a different jello salad most everyday. She could mold jello in anything. To this day, I still have a fascination with jello. My mother would fuss at me because I would stick my finger in the jello to see if it was ready. I still get impatient waiting on my jello masterpiece to set up.
Included are some of our "tailgater" favorites along with delicious appetizers for a quick get together.
Of course, no Southern cookbook is complete without homemade biscuits, gravy and cornbread recipes. There is a complete chapter dedicated to breakfast. In the South, we are famous for our delicious breakfast and this cookbook has all the recipes you will need for a southern breakfast in no time.
