Comfortable water shoes and for hiking

I’m usually a size 8 and ordered a 7.5 and they fit perfect. So comfortable especially the soles. They are great quality for the price. I bought two pairs and might buy more. I wear these hiking and to trek through water.

Disappointed fit (around the house)

I purchased these along with the L-RUN Athletic Hiking Water Shoes. I was in need of something to hike easy to moderate trails in Hawaii in search of waterfalls. I was really hopeful for the SOBASO due to their more rugged tread and the larger holes in the mesh. Unfortunately they didn’t fit as well walking around the house. As seen in the picture they required the bungee to be cinched down pretty tight, which caused overlapping of the mesh. The fit around the opening at the top of my foot was also loose. The biggest downside I found though was the heel. At the very back of the shoe the heel dips for some reason. I could definitely see this being an issue on uneven terrain or while walking through creeks and the heel slipping off.
The other shoe fit much better. More like a neoprene sock. I’m going to keep them and return these. I’ll write a more detailed review of those shoes after I’m able to get out and walk with them a bit.

Love 'em. Nice solid sole. I wear 13 but they only had a 13.5 so thats what I got. Fits closer to a 12.5. It fits me great, but be aware that their sizes seem to fit a litter smaller than expected.

Update. I have a couple hundred miles on them - well before worn out. There is plenty of tread left. The very bottom layer of the sole is wearing. The tread layer is very very thin - a couple millimeters - and covers a waffle type "bulk" of the sole. There are many holes exposed to the bottom that go straight thru to the street. I keep getting rocks in the shoes from the sidewalk that go thru those holes directly into the shoe. I have to empty a small rock 2-3 times every time I go for a walk. I'm sure they did it to keep weight down, but its very annoying to have to empty the rocks out endlessly. I will definitely not be getting these again.

Only tried on and returning. I ordered the SOBASO 8.5womens black &blue. I normally wear a woman's size 9 USA. Great thick sole with breathable material. The shoe material has a lot of room in it even when the strings are tight. I purchased these for our trip to Thailand for hiking in hot weather. Too big, my foot slides all around when walking.

One pair fell apart

I bought two pairs, one for me and one for my daughter. Mine I used only on the beach and they worked well. They are comfortable and kept the stones from the soles of my feet. My daughter wore hers to from and in a stream, and they fell apart the second weekend of use. The glue that held the shoes together gave way, and they are now junk. Our return window has closed. So, I guess, buy these advisedly. They're inexpensive, and you get what you pay for. If all you need is a cheap sole to protect your feet, then they're fine. If you're looking for a shoe that will stand up to any stress or heat, don't buy these.

A Lot Of Issues

I bought these shoes to step in the water while kayaking. My friends just use Crocs, but I wanted something that looked better and that ended up being a mistake.

To start with, the shoes were comfortable and I had no issues with them digging in the heel like many complained about.

I stepped in the water while launching my kayak, and immediately got my feet covered in uncomfortable sand which came through the holes in the shoes. This wasn't a big deal because I was just able to rinse my shoes and feet off in the water, but would probably be a big issue for anybody who wanted to keep walking in a sandy area and didn't have a place to sit to rinse their feet.

I spent the next 6 hours with my feet/shoes exposed to the open air in my sit-on-top kayak. It was 68 degrees and overcast, so it wasn't ideal conditions for drying, but in that time both the fabric on the top of the shoes and the insoles in the shoes stayed very wet. I would have expected better after 6 hours from a "quick drying" shoe. I hopped out of my kayak without getting the shoes more wet, then left them on my porch overnight. They were still very wet the next morning, so I just ran them through the washing machine and dryer, which they held up well in.

The worst part is how my feet felt the next day. The bottom of the shoes are very flexible and thin, which I initially didn't see as a problem. However, after walking about 500 feet carrying a 50 pound kayak to a lake, then walking 500 feet back to my truck with it, I apparently needed more support. While I didn't notice any issues that day, the bottom middle of my feet hurt badly the next day and it was hard to walk. I'm assuming that carrying the extra weight is what made the lack of support worse.

Back edge cuts into my heel

These water shoes seemed to fit just fine, but in use while walking (crossing streams on a hike) the back edge cut into my heel. If I wore them more than a few minutes, like to go from one stream crossing the the next one nearby, it actually broke the skin and took days to heal. I tried covering the heel edge with duct tape to reduce friction, but had the same result. It's too late to return these unfortunately. I'll just throw them out.

So I received these this week, ordered two sizes as I usually run smaller in a water shoe than a walking shoe. Anyhow, these are very unformed shoes that aren't at all what is pictured. The inner sole is flat, and while not terrible, not really very supportive for the use. They are not worth the $35+ price tag in my opinion. They are more of what I would expect to buy at a dollar general at the beach, and remind me of a slipper, not a shoe. Bottom line is I would wear these if I had to, but not because I wanted to. I ended up at Cabelas and found a NICE pair of creek shoes for under $25.

Not what I expected

I was expecting more of a shoe and less of a sock. These are very small, so if you want them to fit like a shoe and wear socks with them I would order a size up. The photos show my everyday shoe size 11 vs the SOBASO size 10.5. My shoes are a full inch or more longer.

That being said, these shoes do stretch over my feet and feel comfortable but my toes are pushing out of the end of the shoe. I searched for hiking shoes and these came up. I thought why not, they will be cooler to wear than thicker canvas shoes.

These are truly water shoes with no support just like a neoprene wetsuit bootie or the water shoes you get at Walmart for your lake trip.
I don't think these will work for hiking at all but I will keep them for the lake or river rafting.
For what they are I wouldn't spend this kind of money on them again. A $10 pair at a department store is about the same quality.

Not boat shoes, good for other purposes

I really really want to like these shoes but unfortunately I won't get to use them much as I would wear them as a primary shoe on the boat. They are horrible at marking up the fiberglass and hold onto tracked on dirt like crazy. Even when washing the boat which subsequently washes the bottom of your footwear, these things just made a mess and had to take them off. I think the bungee style lacing will fall apart fairly quickly.

The good. They are fairly comfortable and feel secure on the foot. They drain water pretty well and dry out pretty well. They have good traction for those slippery surfaces and can be used for a host of other outdoor activities besides on a boat.

Comfortable with socks, not great for sand

Got these shoes for hiking with river crossings included. I appreciate that these shoes have a more solid sole than some other water hiking shoes. I tried a couple of hikes (not very long) without socks and the edges of the insole scraped my feet raw in two or three spots on each foot, around the arch area. The next time I wore socks which eliminated the scraping issue. But both with and without socks, they let in a lot of sand and rock. My wife had a different style of water shoes with a tighter mesh and she didn’t have so much sand getting in.
