5.0 out of 5 stars Verify binding quality upon receipt
By Tobin B. on March 17, 2018
We ordered Volumes 1 and 2, having never read either before but having heard that the series was really good. Volume 1 arrived in great shape, and stayed that way as my wife and I each read through it. It felt durable, and it would easily lays open. But from the very first time we opened Volume 2, the binding has been creaking and cracking, and feels fragile. Unfortunately, the return window had ended by the time we finished Volume 1 and discovered the problems with Volume 2.

I'm not even going to attempt to review the story, since that is so subjective, but, if you are someone who likes to curl up in bed with a book, this publication is a little too large and too heavy for that... We did compare our copy to a friend's publication that had the first ten comics, and this publication has crisper images and brighter colors, which make it both beautiful and easier to absorb.

(We reviewed Volume I at five stars and Volume 2 at three stars for the durability issues)

4.0 out of 5 stars This book is Heh-VEE.
By Mitchell Lasco on November 3, 2020
I heard so much about the Sandman Series and I enjoyed other works by Gaiman, so I thought it was time to see what the fuss was about. After reviewing my options, it seemed economical to buy the omnibus rather than so many smaller collections, and end up paying much more for the same content. Other reviewers took objection to the binding, but I've had no trouble there. What I will say is that this may not be the best option if you actually want to read it cover to cover. The size and weight is awkward if you want to read in bed or really anywhere other than a table. I ended up using my keyboard arm as a bookstand. That being said, the writing was more than worth the effort! This is a graphic novel that transends the medium. It's just great storytelling. Just be warned about the weight. The 3 volume omnibus may be more for the collector than the avid reader!

4.0 out of 5 stars The spine has changed, seller dont really care
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 7, 2020
The book itself beautiful and has a great binding, better than my 2nd volume, which I already have. This first volume is the 6th print and they changed the spine label from VERTIGO to DC VERTIGO. I would like to have the 2 books with the same spine, but Bookdepository refused my request to change it because the image on the site doesn't have to match what I get, only the ISBN number. I am a little angry about it, because these books are very expensive ones, and there was no way of knowing, that the publisher has changed the spine.
So pay attention, that there are different spines!!
