This is Jim Harrison, your favorite flying ace. If you’ve read my trilogy, you know these books are autobiographies, and Sean Robins is just a pen name. If you haven’t, well then, SURPRISE!

Sorry about that, guys. I could never resist a good meta-joke.

So, this is me. The real me, Sean Robins. Unfortunately, my life is nowhere nearly as interesting as my main protagonist’s. I’m a university/college-level English teacher, and including Canada, I’ve lived and worked in six different countries. I’ve met people from all around the world, which is probably why my characters look like the bridge crew from Star Trek (They are from US, Germany, Canada, Cuba, Mexico, Russia, Japan, and Ukraine, plus a couple of aliens and an AI). One of my female characters even impersonated Uhura once, albeit posthumously.

I’m a huge Marvel (plus Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Stargate) fan, which shows since my novels are loaded with pop culture references. If you are a sci-fi fan (I assume that you are), you’ll enjoy them tremendously. Moreover, while the books aren’t comedies, I can guarantee a few laugh-out-loud moments. Case in point: The “good” aliens are a race of pranksters, whose main goal in life is pulling other people’s legs (They have four legs, hence the slight change in the idiom).

My favorite author is Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files), which is probably how I ended up writing in a first-person POV with the same light-hearted, funny tone as he does. The fact that my MC’s name is Jim is purely coincidental though, and it has nothing to do with James Kirk either.

I hope you enjoyed reading The Crimson Deathbringer as much as I enjoyed writing it (her?). If you did, don’t forget to read the next two books in the series, The Golden Viper and The Black Fleet. Book 5 - The Scarlet Queen is not that great

I found The Scarlet Queen book 5 in the series very disappointing. In book 3, The Black Fleet destroyed the Xortaags homeworld of Tangaar. Now in book 5, Tangaar is alive and well, and the Xortaag General Maada is on the rampage concurring other worlds!?

In chapter 26 of book 5, Xornaa and her team are fighting many Zuuvreil soldiers on the planet Zegides. I can overlook misspelled words like ‘the’ for ‘they’ or ‘ant’ for ‘and,’ I cannot excuse the three times ‘Irzut soldiers’ was used to describe ‘Zuuvreil soldiers!
1. Several Irzuts were pushing a three-barrel laser cannon fixed on antigravity plates toward them.
2. She (CM) tossed her remaining grenade at the cannot once she got close enough. The explosive landed right on top of the weapon. Irzut soldiers ran in every direction before a blinding flash flared and killed several of them.
3. Another volley of shots reminded Xornaa that there were still hundreds of Irzuts in front of her. She swallowed, placed her rifle’s sight on an advancing soldier, and pulled the trigger.
4. These misprints occurred within a few paragraphs of each other, and in each case, the word ‘Irzuts’ should have been ‘Zuuvreil.’
I’ve already pre-ordered book 6 in the series, but I won’t waste my money on any more of Mr. Robins' books!

Loved this one as well! Sean's stories are great! Action, drama, comedy! Love it. Great to see a little bit of Xornaa's back story. I could read a whole series just on her. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book in the series! Great job Mr. Robins!

A rather strange Prequel, with no particular purpose.

My own Prequel: I rarely give a '2' rating for a book. Book 1 in the series was borderline between a 5 and a 4.

If it were not for the header for the book's pages showing "prequel", this story would be a problem. As it is, it's still difficult to understand just what it has to do with the rest of the series. Only one main character is well represented, and she is not really that central to the rest of the series.

This is a much shorter book that the others. The chapters are also amazingly short (some at just 3 pages). This particular book looks like it did not go through proof-reading or editing. Usually, typos are not that distracting to me. In this book, they have become pretty common. Some are weird enough that it takes stopping and re-reading a sentence (or paragraph) to get back on track.

After the story, the author takes it upon himself to note that he likes writing these light-hearted stories, with a prankster alien. (Paraphrased – that's what I understood it to say.) Sorry, but after the first 2/3 of the first book, these are certainly not light-hearted. They are genocide stories made to feel acceptable. Up until this book, the writing itself was excellent and made them quite readable.

Final take on this, the Prequel should never have been published. It serves no purpose in the story line, is disjointed, takes a mid-level character and makes a completely separate story around her. The author fills space by repeating the epilogue from the last book (and to make it worse, repeats it yet again at the start of book 6). I purchased the 'complete 6 book series' as a package. Now I see the author decided to go to 8, possibly more books. I am quite certain that book 6 will end my participation. And that looks like 2 books too far.

Zornaa's Backstory is Awesome!

I listened to this book on Audible, but I wanted to let everyone know how good it is!
I loved hearing Zornaa's backstory. It really helps me understand so much about Zornaa. I kind of wish the book had continued because I have so many more questions! I feel like Zornaa needs her own spinoff series. She has a lot of secrets to spill... This particular story is one I've been curious about ever since she mentioned it in one of the previous books in the Crimson Deathbringer Series. We get to hear the story of the first time machine. I loved it! Have I said that enough yet? It was action-packed, weird, funny, sad, and every other emotion and feeling you could ask for. It's a side story in the series that I definitely didn't mind taking a detour for. If you haven't read the Crimson Deathbringer series yet, start with book 1. You won't want to miss a thing!

Another winner in the series!

This is a different twist on the Jim Morrison saga that starts with the Crimson Deathbringer. It may be the best, though the usual puns and references to pop culture aren't as frequent and I miss them - to be continued in the next book, which I'm very much looking forward to!

The characters are sympathetic and the female characters well drawn for an admittedly male author. I loved the Scarlet Queen and the surprise at the end was exceptionally well done and reminiscent of a movie in which....oops, spoiler!

Perhaps the best in the series, I look forward to the next Sean Robins story. Very much enjoyed the action and the behind the scenes peek in this captivating space opera.

Time isn't an issue... or maybe it's the entire issue! 😆

This is another fun, edge-of-your-seat, Space Opera... and I highly recommend getting the audio version for CJ Grey's perfect narration!
It turns out that Scarlet Queen is a prequel to the series, Scarlet Deathbringer. Wanna' know about time ships, or where the Zuuvreil went? Then this is the book for you! You're definitely gonna' want to follow Xornaa (the femme fatal), Klatzo (the genius), and CM (the AI) to see what they're all getting up to, and time isn't the issue for them... or maybe it's the entire issue! LOL
