Scarred Empire: An Enemies to Lovers Dark Billionaire Romance (Broken Cross Book 2) Kindle Edition
She is scarred.
When I stormed into her life, it was supposed to be temporary.
Anais was supposed to be like the rest,
Then I became addicted.
My past caught up with me and she walked out before I could make her mine.
Tragedy strikes and I have no choice but to bring her back into my world.
In order to protect her, I convince her to wear my ring.
But I fear even I can't protect her from the turmoil we're about to face.
Scarred Empire is the second in an enemies to lovers billionaire trilogy. Themes in this dark and sexy series may not be suitable for all readers. Anais and Damien’s story concludes in Steel Empire. It is NOT a standalone and ends with a cliffhanger.

this author creates a desire to know more about Damien and Anais...
To say a cliche' here there are so many pieces to Damien and Anais, a puzzle you have to piece together. While they both want the same thing they aren't even on the same page yet they lack communication and trust in each other.. becomes this blinding issue.
The story creates a constant push/pull relationship. One minute they want each other and the next one wants to kill the other. But their inner battles aren't so much with each other as within themselves.
With her father being shot and not knowing who did it Damien is taking no chances with Anais safety. While his methods of protecting her are a tad to the extreme she goes along with everything. I think he blackmails her because he feels it's the only way to get her to be with him when in fact she's crazy about him and all he has to do it ask.
This author ....Bri Blackwood .....has mastered the art of a cliffhanger.
Once again book two has left me having to get book three ... I truly wish if an author can't complete a story they would put a header or a notice of such ....
Full of plot twists, mysteries, learning to compromise and falling in love! Damien is learning new things about himself that he never imagined he could feel or think. Anais is finding herself feeling overwhelmed with all that has transpired over the past weeks and realizing she is falling hard for someone she doesn’t think feels the same. But then a past catches up to one of them and the other finds themselves having to pay the price.
This was such a great book! I could not put it down! I’m loving Damien more and more. Onto the next book!

With her father being shot and not knowing who did it Damien is taking no chances with Anais safety. While this methods of protecting her are a tad to the left they come from a good place. I think he blackmails her because he feels it's the only way to get her to be with him when in fact she's crazy about him and all he has to do it ask and mean it.
Bri Blackwood has mastered the art of a cliffhanger. Once again book two has left me dying for book three! I NEED IT NOW!!! Scarred Empire is a must read for everyone!
Damien Cross is a powerful man that has a lot of rumors running rampant about him and his family. He has money, clout, and a reputation of being a man that gets things done, one way or another. He’s a man used to getting what he wants when he wants it, but he has a hard time with feelings and letting them show. He’s all business all the time, but Anais has an effect on him that he can’t figure out.
Anais Monroe is the daughter of Monroe Media Corporation and the Director of Social Media. Her life has been turned upside down and she just wants to go back to a normal life, with her job and her family safe. She doesn’t want to have to worry about signing her life away to protect those she cares about, but she has a big heart and couldn’t live with herself if something happened that she could have prevented.
These two come from two different worlds yet, they seem to keep finding themselves back in each other’s lives and the danger just keeps mounting for them. Who is determined to hurt Anais and her family? How can Damien keep her safe and protect her family’s business from rumors or danger if she won’t cooperate with him? I love this book and these characters. Anais may not be as powerful in business or life as Damien is, but with him by her side, her confidence shows brightly. He supports her even if he tries to control a lot of her life. I have been so intrigued with this story that I cannot wait for the next book in the series, Steel Empire. The cliff hanger at the end was both frustrating and intriguing. I look forward to more of the Broken Cross Series. I give this book a 5-star review.
I loved seeing Damien's confusion about his attraction and feelings for Anais. He does not do relationships so this.... whatever it is... he has with Anais has him in a spin. We only get a few chapters from his POV but I really appreciated hearing from him and seeing his turmoil. He definitely has a lot to learn about women, especially the one woman who is constantly in his thoughts. The conversation with his brother had me laughing out loud.
This book is a little more dark than the first one, not so much in the sex but in the glimpses we get into Damien's way of doing business, and also the anticipation of the fallout from the ending, which I did not see coming.
Anais and Damien continued to pull me in to their story and the pages kept on turning until I reached the end before I even realised it. The action flowed well and with yet another cliff-hanger, this one worse than the last, I was completely hooked and can't wait for Steel Empire.

Anais is a great character. She sticks up for herself and tried fighting back against Damien’s controlling ways, but ultimately, she realises that he hasn’t given her a choice once again. You kind of feel sorry for her.
Damien is fantastic, but he is also frustrating. He gives Anais no choice but to agree to be with him, which is definitely an #rsehole move. She just wants to know that he actually wants her and he doesn’t show her that. I love his character development though and how he starts to see her more and realise what she needs. He starts listening. I really hope that he just opens up more and tells her how he really feels.
I like the plot and it’s development. Someone is messing with them and it’s not until right at the end that we find out more. It definitely surprised me and I’m certain that Damien is going to rain hell until he finds Anais.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to reading the next one. I would definitely recommend this series.
I've definitely warmed up to Damien "he's soooooo hot" and one very sexy guy. I bought this book as well as the first one and I have pre-ordered the last in the trilogy. I have thoroughly enjoyed both books so far, a very good story, I can only advise you to read this trilogy it has everything you could want. Roll on book 3
