After becoming the first female e-gamer to lead her team to victory, I was sucked into a world that couldn't be real.
Now I'm stuck in this strange jungle with nothing but my phone, hoping to find a way back home.
When I'm rescued from a dangerous creature by a plantman, I realize I'm not alone.
He teaches me how to survive as a native of this primitive world.
The more time we spend together, the more desire I have for my savior.
Now I find myself feeling like scattered petals in the wind.
Should I continue to search for a way back to my planet—my home?
Or should I ground myself with the one who makes my heart bloom?

When her cellphone glitches right after she won a gaming contest, Viola finds herself on another world; one with sentient trees, and plantmen natives!
Zyre never expected his fated mate would come from another world- now he just has to convince Viola to stay…
Our third book in series was actually the last to be published, so it’s worth pointing out that although all the books occur in the same universe, they are also all standalone stories (so far).
There are a few intriguing theories about the cellphone glitch mentioned in this one, as well as some hints about the future.
Zyre is one of the more unique characters in this shared universe, he is a “plantman” with vines (tentacles), and his world is a thing of beauty. The home trees are also interesting- and our gamer girl heroine has some unique talents that prove to be very useful.
It all comes together in a story that is both entertaining and enjoyable, one recommended for SFR fans, as well as those who have been following the Shattered Galaxies series. I look forward to the next round!
Spoilers ahead.
I like Viola's fighting spirit. She's scared and has to learn all the new things to survive in this world but she doesn't bemoan her fate and cry about what she left behind. I'd love to see it expanded more. The brief glimpse of this world was interesting. They're very close to nature but their tech has integrated into it. Which leads to so many questions for me lol. I always love learning about how new worlds work and what cultures inhabit them. Waltz always writes an engaging story that leaves you looking for the next in the series.
Viola had a hard life and achieved everything she worked hard to do... only to get teleported to a planet that's too different to be real.
Zyre is a gentle soul, who wanted to do nothing more than worship his fated mate like she deserves.
The way they communicated their feelings and questions to understand each other better and what was happening was enjoyable and fun to see.
While this book was less humorous and more spicy compared to her other works, there it was a lovely romance story.
She hinted about a season 2 and that the hero will be Zyre’s grumpy brother. I can't wait to see him get this world turned upside down by his fated mate. Lol
If you enjoy gaming/eSports and/or unique monster-alien plantman, this is for you.
I hope for many more stories in this world.
I love that Viola could take care of herself but found a soft spot in her heart for Zyre. Their connection was beautiful and I loved how well their relationship developed.
I'm looking forward to the next story in this universe! I definitely recommend the book to anyone who wants a light romantic read. It's great for unwinding after a long day!
If I ignore how the FMC blindly and happily accepts being teleported against her will, this book feels super rushed and is rife with errors and discontinuity. Paragraphs begin with statements that don’t relate to the conversation and there have been instances I’ve been lost as to what we were still talking about.
Honestly, this cover caught my attention before the first in the series but I wanted some background info before reading Scattered Petals. Rainbow haired e-gamer and MMC that’s essentially a dryad = instant yes. Broken conversations and half-baked, shallow plot? DNF. I might give another one a try later but I’m pretty disappointed.
