1.0 out of 5 stars Mediocre, un-researched, and poorly produced.
By BrassyDel on March 6, 2021
In brief: skip this book. The title is misleading and you will be disappointed.

Page 1, which is immediately following the cover because this book isn’t professionally published (which alone is not a problem, but this case exemplifies every negative stereotype of self-published work), starts off with “Advanced Methods for Learn, Remember, and Master New Skills and Information”. This initial typo is a good indicator of the lacking quality of the rest of the book. It reads like someone attempting to fill their word count quota without doing any actual research, and there’s a lack of even basic editing for typos and grammar, let alone content. It doesn’t appear that there was any formatting for print either, which leaves awkward things like orphaned headers. The final page shows the date this specific printed book was “made,” so clearly these are Print On Demand and there’s no excuse for continued typos after the first few have made it into the wild.

There is no science included, so don’t look for the missing bibliography. There are some anecdotes, and a lot of pseudo-intellectual meandering. I hate to be rude about someone’s writing, especially since just finishing a book IS a laudable accomplishment, but I was expecting a book discussing scientific research on rapid skill acquisition, and this is not it. I need to make sure other prospective buyers understand this: there is NO scientific research actually included in this book. I can’t even hand this to my middle schooler as a nice, entry level book about learning how to learn. This is below-average blog content and should have been massively distilled.

I was excited for this book to arrive, and now I’m mad. A tree died for this, a wholly unnecessary sacrifice, and then it was packaged, shipped, and delivered. The amount of effort put into bringing me this book likely exceeds the amount of thought dedicated to producing work that is actually needed and can provide value to more than just the author’s ego.
