I don’t like its bad print. Each line thru 1/2 of the book was being cut off, none of us can figure out the meaning of missing words. I was so disappointed with the book but don’t return due to cost of return ing is more than the value of itself. Feel bad!

I liked all the characters because they were exciting, especially the dancing moles.
The book was so much fun my mummy had to pull the book away to stop me reading at night! I’d recommend The Secret Lake to children aged 6-12 years old who enjoy mystery, adventure and surprises!
Johnny, aged 6 and 3/4
Deep into the spot they loved in the garden they found a hole with a ladder, the ladder led to a tree, they climbed down both, they found a beautiful lake and saw a boy in a boat, the boy dashed of into the forest, they saw a women with two children Sophie and Emma both in strange dress, they found they had somehow gone back in time to the previous owners of the house, they were sent away to change their strange clothes but back at the tunnel it had closed, they were trapped
The boy with the boat Jack made friends with them, Jack and his father had been accused of stealing at the house but he said this wasn't true, they decided to help him
The author has planned the book with meticulous care and creative flair and I am sure it will appeal to Inglis' target readership. If I had one small criticism (and this is so subjective!) I think the book could benefit from a more eye-catching cover design. It's a little too green to really stand out and does look a bit dated. However, I'm sure there are many who would disagree and this fact alone does not detract from the quality of the writing.
I have decided to return the book, and buy one by a known publisher which looks better quality to give as a gift.
The story is easy and presents the reader with the mystery of travelling to another time
I thought the ending was very sweet
I haven’t given 5 stars because some of the language could have been improved (quite a few cliches!) and the pace of the book is a little fast in places - I found myself having to reread the odd paragraph to understand what had happened. However, this won’t detract from the enjoyment of the book for young readers. My 9 year old really enjoyed the story.
