In 2006, a groundbreaking feature-length film revealed the great mystery of the universe—The Secret—and, later that year, Rhonda Byrne followed with a book that became a worldwide bestseller.
Fragments of a Great Secret have been found in the oral traditions, in literature, in religions, and philosophies throughout the centuries. For the first time, all the pieces of The Secret come together in an incredible revelation that will be life-transforming for all who experience it.
In this book, you’ll learn how to use The Secret in every aspect of your life—money, health, relationships, happiness, and in every interaction you have in the world. You’ll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that’s within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.
The Secret contains wisdom from modern-day teachers—men and women who have used it to achieve health, wealth, and happiness. By applying the knowledge of The Secret, they bring to light compelling stories of eradicating disease, acquiring massive wealth, overcoming obstacles, and achieving what many would regard as impossible.

There are many holes in the theory behind The Secret. The first being that Byrne fails to address opposing wills. Imagine a woman excited for a ‘girls night out’ evening with her friends. Throughout the week she has been thinking positive thoughts about the outing and how well it will go and how relaxing it will be after a tough week at work. Now, imagine a sexual predator whose hunting ground is the bar where our imaginary woman is meeting her friends. This sexual predator has been imagining throughout the week how he will drug and attack a woman and get away with it. Unfortunately for our imaginary woman she falls prey to the sexual predator. According to The Secret this would have happened because our imaginary woman did not think enough positive thoughts about the outing and even subconsciously could have been attracting the attack towards her by packing pepper spray in her handbag. Seriously. In chapter two we are told all the terrible historic events we can think of happened because all the victims were somehow vibrating on the same negative frequency.
Let that sink in.
Another thing Byrne and her cohorts fail to consider is the benefits of endurance in the face of obstacles. According to The Secret anything that you do that feels difficult is a sign you are operating against the natural flow of the universe. Imagine if JK Rowling (pre-cancel culture) had believed in The Secret? She would have given up after her 12th rejection by a publisher and would be a billion dollars poorer today.
Maybe I’m being a Negative Nelly. Maybe we should eliminate the existence of opposing wills and obstacles. Fine. Let’s do that. Imagine a couple who believes they will have children. Even before they met each other and got married they would imagine their future family. Unfortunately for this couple unassisted pregnancy is not a viable option and they must consider IVF. Why did this happen? Why did decades of imagining cute children not result in an easier fertility journey? Anyway, our imaginary couple can afford IVF. There are no financial obstacles. Their doctor is positive (emphasis on positive) about their chances about conceiving in this manner and is eager to add yet another glowing testimonial to the clinic’s website. Still, our imaginary couple fails to conceive. Why did this happen? Why did the addition of a third positive person and enduring belief of our imaginary couple not result in successful conception? What would Byrne and her cohorts say to this couple?
In addition to my arguments above, there are other problems with this book. It’s just one long collection of repetitive quotes. I also suggest that if you have any type of religious inclination that you avoid this book. It also contains purposeful distortions of Christian scripture which are not only deliberately misleading but that also make no sense. How does any self-respecting philosopher (I imagine this is how Byrne markets herself) quote a text in one sentence only to contradict it in the next all the while claiming to support the text they quoted? I’m speaking specifically about her interpretation of Mark 11:24 which reads,”So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Byrne conveniently sums this up as ask, believe, receive but goes on to explain that you are asking the benevolent Universe for abundance and believe that You are the creator of all that flows to you and receive all You wish. Other than the fact that Christians believe in a benevolent God that is the creator of all why on earth would You as ultimate creator (according to Byrne) need any type of help from any thing, even the Universe?
Lol. I can’t. I don’t even have the energy to sum up this review neatly. Just don’t buy this book.

I read half of it and can only assume that my friend has in fact lost her mind.

If you are looking for some good guidance on how to live life DO NOT buy this! I sent mine back for a refund in disgust!
You've been warned.

So I got this book and now I am trying to apply what it says to my life. I don't want millions of pounds or anything fancy, but I do want what everyone else has a loving Wife, Car, and Home to call my own.
These I believe by the scope of this book are achievable and realistic goals that I am setting myself. So it remains to be seen if this book truly can do what it says it can.
After reading a couple of chapters so far all I can see is a brilliant book to teach you how to feel good in yourself. To make yourself feel happy even when sad and depressed. That alone is worth more than any amount of millions. There are plenty of millionaires that are not happy at all and struggled to make more millions which in turn makes them just as miserable.
This book teaches you how to look at your emotions and thoughts and feelings and change your thinking to a better place. If you are looking for a load of quick results then don't bother. This book will teach you how to make yourself feel good about yourself and in turn, attract good things to you, but remember good things come to those who wait. If you cant then you won't get.
As books go this is old news now, but I got it for 6 pounds second hand, hardback and in good condition. For me, it is not worth the 14 pounds brand new price, but each to their own. There are many different books since using the same techniques, but with clearer examples.
If you expect to become a rich person after this book, then you may become one, but remember as the book says you need to really believe you already have the money and already are rich.
I will update this if my life changes and I do get a job and get a nice woman in my life. I will update this if I do get that house and what every average person has. I will not set a time limit, but as I reach my goals I will update this review.

Is a continuous repetition that if you think good, good will come to you.
The concept is fine.
What is worrying is that the author has the cheek to say that everything that happens to people in life is a consequence of their own thoughts, without considering social-economical situations of the subjects. So if a child is hit by a bomb in a war country that means the child has been sending out to the university this idea ? And his mother is guilty of thinking the same for her child and so her suffering is a consequence of her thoughts?
I worked in a casino, I know how bad addicts wish to be millionairse and pray and continuously think about winning ? Do they win ? Nope more like ending selling their wife's jewellery !
This book avoids the concept of PURE INTENTIONS- EGO and KARMA.
