Dumb story

The star of the movie was Johnny Depp's hair which seemed to be the most important aspect of his character.

Great build up but didn't like the ending

Secret Window is a psychological thriller based upon a Stephen King story. It features Johnny Depp as the writer Mort Rainey who is in seclusion in a cabin after finding his wife cheating on him in a hotel room. He’s also confronted by John Shooter (John Turturro) who accuses him of stealing his story. The piece in question was called “The Secret Window.” The movie focuses upon Rainey’s anger with this wife and the paranoia that he might have actually committed plagiarism.

The problem with the movie is that it has such a build up. There’s Rainey’s confrontations with his wife and Shooter and you think it’s all going to explode. Then the story takes a twist and you just feel disappointed because the start is far better than the conclusion. It just leaves the viewer feeling unfulfilled.

This movie is completely awful. It’s slow, slower, and stupid. Don’t waste your time. I intend to sue Johnny Depp to get that 90 minutes of my life back!

This was not a good movie.

I wish I could say this was worth the rental, but I can't. Maria Bello is such an excellent actress, but this show was beneath her. It was also beneath Timothy Hutton. I wanted a suspenseful movie to take me away for a while, but this movie was not suspenseful nor even truly entertaining. I understand that everyone has to keep working. Actors have to go from one script to the next and hope that it's a good one. At times, they likely have to take a manuscript because we all need work and the actors have fun working together. But, for the movie-goer, I was short-changed.

Johnny Depp is perfect in this film. The entire plot keeps you wondering about the real identity of Shooter...until at last it is revealed he is just an alter-ego for our psychologically-warped author. The gore is disturbing, of course, for normal people; however, it is used correctly in that it evokes moral horror at Shooter’s violence.

Worth the money and the time.

A fun Ride to a Secret ending

Great movie with a solid twist of an ending. This is Johnny Depp at his finest folks, and you won't find some of these goodies anywhere else. You may recognize some other faces, such as Charles Turturro from Monk. Really a blast of a thriller!

What Would You Do In His Place?

All I can say that other reviewers haven’t already is, if you’ve ever caught your spouse in bed with someone else, or even just thought about it, then you’re going to have strong feelings about what Johnny Depp does and doesn’t do in this film. I found it profoundly moving; it goes to the core of the meaning of marriage, and I don’t mean in the legal sense.

As far as negative reviews go, those are people who aren’t capable of appreciating what really matters in life. If you're male, and don't like the ending, then you're not really a man.
