Secrets of the Tulip Sisters: A Novel Kindle Edition
|New from||Used from|
Kelly Murphy’s life as a tulip farmer is pretty routine—up at dawn, off to work, lather, rinse, repeat. But everything changes one sun-washed summer with two dramatic homecomings: Griffith Burnett—Tulpen Crossing’s prodigal son, who’s set his sights on Kelly—and Olivia, her beautiful, wayward and, as far as Kelly is concerned, unwelcome sister. Tempted by Griffith, annoyed by Olivia, Kelly is overwhelmed by the secrets that were so easy to keep when she was alone.
But Olivia’s return isn’t as triumphant as she pretends. Her job has no future, and ever since her dad sent her away from the bad boy she loved, she has felt cut off from her past. She’s determined to reclaim her man and her place in the family…whether her sister likes it or not. For ten years, she and Kelly have been strangers. Olivia will get by without her approval now.
While Kelly and Olivia butt heads, their secrets tumble out in a big hot mess, revealing some truths that will change everything they thought they knew. Can they forgive each other—and themselves—and redefine what it means to be sisters?
Told with Mallery’s trademark heart and humor, the Tulip Sisters are in for the most colorful summer of their lives…

Olivia is the younger sister. She was sent away when the parents divorced because her sister thought she would be a slut like their mom. I never did understand this. Olivia actually works for her mom, they have a not so great relationship, but Olivia is smart, beautiful, and well rounded. Her dad and sister Kelly do not know she is working for her mom. Olivia was the bright spot of the book for me. She moves back to live with Kelly and their dad, Jeff, as her old boyfriend "the one who got away" lives there and texts Olivia to come hook up. Ryan is a failed MLB player and the brother of Griffen, Kelly's boyfriend. Olivia learns quickly Ryan is not who she thought he was and Sven is there to pick up the pieces. They have a FWB type of relationship and I actually found the 2 of them to be quite fun and caring to each other.
Helen is Kelly's BFF and is in love (secretly) with Kelly's dad Jeff. Jeff doesn't know and Kelly doesn't know. Kelly is very judgemental and selfish when she does find out that Helen and Jeff are exploring each other.
There were a lot of extra characters that were not necessary. Kelly and Olivia's mom comes and moves into the house with Kelly, Olivia, Jeff (her ex). I thought she was a waste of writing. Ryan was a waste of a character. He just randomly popped in and wasn't necessary.Olivia embarks on a friendship with a girl from school who is a vet. I think her name was Eliza? Anyhow, I would LOVE to hear more about her! Olivia helps her with a makeover, Eliza is interested in a guy in a different city and bam! That's all we know. Is she getting her own book?
Alot of reviewers complained about the sex. i didn't find a lot of steamy sex at all. i thought it was rather tame.
This book is well written. The characters and their story lines are intertwined with each other and you will like most of them. The author puts some humor in the book which helps to lighten up some of the more serious moments. This story is about relationships, family dynamics, friendships, forgiveness and love, it kept me interested from the first page. It is the perfect read for a summer afternoon. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Kelly and her father, Jeff run a Tulip farm. They share what was the family home, together. It has been thirteen years since mother Marilee , walked out.
As a teen, Kelly had a huge crush on Griffith, but he humiliated her and broke her young heart.
Griffith, now a successful builder and entrepreneur, asks Kelly to go out with him, with a view to friends with benefits.
Kelly's younger, and very beautiful sister, Olivia has been away seven years. She has been keeping secret from her family, how much contact she is in with her mother, Marilee.
Suddenly, she's home for the Summer. And she is willing to offer her creative skills to help the town do some serious fundraising. Meanwhile she starts an affair with Kelly's ex, Sven.
Kelly's best friend and cafe owner, Helen, has never revealed that she is in love and lust with Kelly's dad, Jeff. Revealing the truth could ruin two friendships.
Then, out of the blue, Marilee turns up.
It's a compulsive read, so be prepared to not put this book down till its finished.
