where's his belt?
Verified purchase
I was distracted the entire movie trying to see if Kiefer Sutherland's character ever put on a belt. The first time he appears he is obviously not wearing a belt, despite having a gun and spare magazine in the waistband of his slacks. Spent the entire movie trying to see if he ever put on a belt, but aside from the first shot showing clearly empty belt loops it was hard to see definitively so I'm going to assume his character was just running around with a gun hanging off his pants without a proper belt the entire time. Major distraction and something that should have been caught by anyone on the film crew paying the slightest bit of attention.

Superior thriller

"The Sentinel" is a top-notch thriller involving a veteran Secret Service agent, Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) whose personal life and choices collides with his professional life. While investigating a fellow agent's murder and a plot to kill the President, he finds himself framed for the plot and pursued by his former best friend and Secret Service Investigator, David Breckinridge (Kiefer Sutherland) and Jill Marin (Eva Longoria),his top student from the academy and novice Secret Service Agent. He must elude his pursuers, find the mole at Secret Service subsequently, unmask the blackmailer who has discovered a scandal in his personal life, and stop the assasination. Also in the cast are Kim Bassinger as the First Lady, Sarah Ballentine, David Rasche as President Ballentine, and Martin Donovan as Secret Service Supervisor, William Montrose. This is solid and gripping action-drama.

Damaged goods

The story lie was good and probably well done. I really like the cast. However, the disk was damaged and would not play properly. Right at critical points it would stop and refuse to continue until ejecting and re inserting. Sometimes that would hardly work. I looked at the disc and found that it was scratched and gouged in numerous places. I lso thought it was supposd to be wide screen but looking carefully at the label it did say 1:1.31 instead or 4:3 as you would exppect.

Hollywood all the way, but fun.

Would Michael Douglas produce and star in a dopey, poorly made film? Highly unlikely.

But this is not the most believable plot, and is Hollywood all the way. Fun, but you may feel like you have seen other films of this type.

Good Action Movie

This movie was suspenseful and was well-acted. Michael Douglas did a great job in the lead role, and the plot keeps your attention until the end of the movie. I would definitely recommend this one to action/suspense fans.

Overused plot

Realized half way through I had actually seen this when it was released. Should have watched the trailer first! Douglas and Sutherland both strong in their respective roles - but the affair between an agent and FLOTUS certainly doesn't help the image of the Secret Service. The plot of a disgraced agent / cop / whoever - going on the run to clear themselves does seem to get rehashed quite a bit !

Some action and some suspense
Verified purchase
As others may have alluded to (or outright said), this movie doesn't win any awards or anything and the storyline could be better written. But, I'm a Kiefer Sutherland fan thanks to "24" and I liked it well enough (when I saw it in a theater) to buy it for less than $10 (I see the price is now almost double).

Since I'm not a movie critic and I'm willing to dismiss some reality, it's got enough action, gun fights, and car chases going for it to entertain me for the duration.
