Review

"Wells makes it work, powering through on sheer creativity and characterization. Using its alien protagonist to explore the politics of gender and belonging, this is a fascinating read for SF readers looking for something out of the ordinary."
-Publishers Weekly

The Serpent Sea is a worthy sequel to The Cloud Roads and it features all of the strengths (fantastic world-building, great story, awesome characters) of that first novel. It is so easy to fall in love with this series and the reasons are manifold. - The Book Smugglers

4.0 out of 5 stars Trade Paperback... weird printing
By MAL on July 1, 2020
I love this series (four stars for the series-- great world building, interesting characters/character development), and after borrowing it from the library, I wanted my own copies. In every single book except this one in the series, the print is appropriately-sized for the size of the book. I even reordered the book to see if it was a single printing error since it's print on demand (as noted in the back cover), but both copies have mass market-sized printing in a trade paperback-sized book. I didn't see anyone else mention this, but if this is just my error, it's now happened twice. Just be aware. It bothers me more than I'd like it to.

2.0 out of 5 stars print is to small
By ECN on May 2, 2021
The review is not for the story but for the printing.

it is a 6x9 inch paperback book.

However open it to read and find its printed as if the book per 3.5x6. The font is so tiny it is almost unreadable.
