I am convinced that whoever came up with the idea for this show must be brilliant. This show is simultaneously fascinating, entertaining, horrifying, hysterical, and educational all at the same time. Each episode has 3 stories of 3 couples. Sort of like the Law & Order shows, there is an opening montage for each couple which sets the events in motion. Then comes the detective work of trying to find the cause of each injury or illness, as in just what happened and why.
Most of the couples are understandably embarrassed by the time they get to the E.R., and so they often tell lies, causing the doctors and nurses more work to try to figure out what really happened so that can treat the problem. I was able to guess the mystery illness a few times, whiles others completely threw me for a loop. You'll learn more about the human body watching this show, and about what can go wrong. You'll also learn what NEVER to do.
You'll also groan at some of the couples because of their questionable behavior and their bad habit of making terrible, risky decisions that ultimately land them in the E.R. - and almost the morgue. Other couples will immediately gain your sympathy because they just have your basic bad luck, or a fluke, hidden medical issue. You'll be horrified to think "That could happen to me!"
In any case, this is the first show that I have binge-watched in quite a while. Eventually the show gets a bit repetitive and I have to take a break. But I still have Season 4 to watch....oh boy. Wish there were more, but I think it ends there.
