I would watch Ms Stiles reading from the Oxford English Dictionary I do so enjoy her skills. Because I can't say anything negative about Ms Stiles I offer little in the way of a critique of her work. From "Cider House Rules" through the Bourne offerings she ALWAYS shows me an actor who understands her persona. Sexting is a small jem. I loved it and I hope you'll like it.
I'm an avowed LaBute fan. I'm not saying everything he writes is worthy of high praise, how dull would that be? He is, however, a master of the use of language in slicing and dicing the subject of love. And, love has always been the bedrock of his various works.
I'm not sure what I enjoyed more--Julia Stiles well delivered monologue (let's be honest, it's difficult to find an actor who can effectively handle the torrent of words LaBute puts into his works. Ms. stiles did just that, and, she did it beautifully) or her partner in the piece, Marin Ireland, an actress I feel is underused in the world of theater and film.
This is a great piece. Lighting, cinematography, script, direction...it all comes together in a sharp, wicked bit of work.
