I wondered just how significant those Shadline weapons would be. How clever to add this element and weave this extravagant storyline through and through with unusual "side" plots. Kila continues to rise in the most provocative, unexpected and yet appealing ways.

A surprising Shadline significance

The Shadline blades are proving to be more significant than ever thought. And, as more blades are found, the more the conviction arises that Dem-Kisk (or Shadline culmination) is bound to happen still. Which of course means that the Hargothe has to be found but with Kila and her mercusine power still attracting big interest of powerful figures desiring to control her, it looks more and more like Kila is bound to fail.
But what really caught my attention and held me even more enthralled was the journey that the Cloak and Fallo undertook as Shadline training. It is evident that the Shadline masters are undoubtedly going to feature rather prominently in the birth of the God Kil.
The Shadline Rises is a book of over 450 pages of non stop compelling adventure, action and surprising revelations. Small wonder I could hardly tear myself away from reading for any extended time. As will you.

A fantastic finale

I have been addictively reading Eric Kent Edstrom’s Starside Saga series ever since it’s first book and now, in The Shadline Rises (Book 6) things come to a head in a fantastic concluding chapter that’s worthy of this compellingly addictive series. Do we get the promised magic battles, heartfelt humor, and shocking twists? Most definitely. Fans of this series will be totally delighted. That’s guaranteed. (For newcomers, I strongly suggest starting with the first book in the series. You’ll not regret doing so.) But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.

The author proves that he can get better as the tale progresses. Fallo becomes quite a captivating character and the story rises to even greater heights as new and old characters take more active part in the development of the plot. And through it all we see the expert hand of the writer choreographing the steps his heroes take with unsurpassed dexterity. Kila rises to greater power and she achieves her goal only to find that it is not enough to resolve the problems besetting the world. The Hargothe suddenly is cast into a new unwilling role and Henley gets his heart's desire.
I can go on and on... but the bottom line is that what we have here is not a simple fantasy tale but something far greater that the writer is leading us to experience. The cats are something else as well! Flaumishtak also develops into quite an intriguing actor in the book. What next?

Another great book in this series written masterfully by Mr. Edstrom. Many character’s POV’s can sometimes get confusing but this author has a way of pulling it off that does not confuse but enhances the story. Kila continues to gain in strength and uses Mercusine in many heroic and amazing ways. Some of her friends are off on their own quests which are equally amazing. Lots of epic action and magic. Love those cats! Can’t wait to see how Mr. Edstrom continues with this series. So many twists and turns to resolve I wonder how he will manage them. The only thing I’m sure about is that if it is as great as this book then it will be spectacular. I wouldn’t want to miss out on it. Highly recommended.

Kila is back

Another great story about Kila and her friends and enemies. Full of action, twists and random fun scenes I thought it was a great addition to the series. I love how Kila tries to live her life but something always ends up happening in this series. Add in the mystic/magic that is around with the Shadline and wow. It is not the usual basic story but a great tale woven together to get lost in and keep reading to see what happens next to Kila and her friends. I received an advance copy and enjoyed reading the story early as it was as good as expected.

This story just keeps getting better! The twist and turns, the emotional highs and lows, all make for a great story. Now you have to worry that friends maybe not so friendly and demons maybe not so bad, and as usual, the cats are lazy. Eric, you are doing a great job with this series, please keep them coming. I can't wait to see what happens next!
