If you like Hallmark movie mysteries
Verified purchase
If you like Hallmark movie mysteries, Father Brown, Poirot or Miss Marple then you will probably like this movie. This one in particular would be great to watch during Christmas season since it is set during that time. No blood and gore here but it is a good puzzle to solve. There are other movies in this series and I will be watching more!

Wretched waste of time

This was so bad it's hard to know where to begin. The acting was about the equivalent of a TV commercial; stereotyped looks, no believable feelings, flat line deliveries. The script was completely predictable; every plot twist was telegraphed well in advance. And the ending! After these characters act in completely unlikable ways for 98 percent of the movie, suddenly, because it's Christmas, they get all warm and fuzzy.

Confused, Simplistic, Bland, and Boring
Verified purchase
This movie fails as a mystery (telegraphing portions of the 'solution' and plot from the outset) and as a Christmas movie (choose your issues with this one; they already bleeped out an expletive). Was this poor script so constantly revised that the unsympathetic characters did not know they were part of a murder mystery or a warm & fuzzy family Christmas salute? Elements of Agatha Christie literally go nowhere. Adultery, kleptomania/theft, betrayals, alcoholism, incarceration, tampering with evidence, failure to report a death, and other 'sins' of omission and/or commission end with a happy family toast. This storyline is confused and yet simplistic -- and very boring.

To my surprise this movie kept the suspense right on through and was well played by actors and actresses. I had never heard of the 'Shadow Island Mysteries" before but I will definitely be looking for more.

The mind of a Five year old!!!!

What a waste of time, this movie was so like Lifetime movies, lol. Except it was bad. Life time movies are good, don't get me wrong, but the Mystery in summary made ya think it was gonna be a great movie. THUMBS DOWN!!!

This was a simple whodunit

This was a take your time to unravel the clues and so doing the guilty. You learn money is a real means to drive people, but the theme of this mystery is more than that. I liked it, but I like all sorts of mysteries. And yes it does remind me of Hallmark or even an Agatha Christie murder, slower paced and you have to pay attention to get to the conclusion . So I enjoyed it. Think and watch.

slow and boring

I usually like mysteries but not this one. It was slow, boring, and depressing. I had a hard time finishing it even with the playback sped up to 1.2x. Not my type of story or production I guess.

About as mysterious as a sock missing from the dryer

Idiotic storyline and so transparent and predictable. Cheap scenery and props; "acting" is laughably poor. Boring is too good a word.
