WHAT IS INSIDE THIS HOUSE?
On the other side of vengeance lies regret. Yet nothing can stop Dinah from having hers!
After a bet with her best friend landed Dinah King in the arms of star footballer Billy Dunne, Prom night was set to be the start of an amazing life for the cheer captain hopeful, until disaster struck.
Ten years later, Dinah's life is far from graceful. With high school best friend Michelle claiming her place in Billy's heart, Dinah yearns for a chance to go back and do it all over again.
But desire is more powerful than Dinah thought
A housekeeping vacancy at the mysterious Elworth Manor finds Dinah reuniting with her former best friend and the man who was supposed to be hers. The seedlings of revenge budding from her core, Dinah's envy ripens after an eldritch force pays her a visit and grants her the chance to change it all.
But a deal with the devil seldom goes as planned. And by the time the cost of revenge lays itself bare, Dinah gets stuck in a deadly dilemma, one where she stands to lose far more than she already lost.

Early on, Michelle's peculiar behavior sends up red flags that all is not well, and while Dinah picks up on all the cues, her inner conflicts of jealousy and anger prevent her making good decisions on her own behalf. She spends the first half of the book wallowing in her misery, and the author over does it with how much misery she is in. It's not just that things go wrong for her, she feels cursed and that her life was stolen from her by Michelle. Yet, when the truth comes out that this was actually the case, she can't seem to make it right. And no matter how badly Michelle treated her throughout the entire storyline, all Dinah moans about is how she could have been a better friend and could have or should have tried harder, done more, acted differently, known better.
There wasn't one character in this book that was remotely likeable.
The later parts of the book are disjointed, and show the story from the different characters POV, only the author does a recap of the story every single time, as if it was a serial episode we hadn't just read about a few chapters before and need to be reminded of the what's happened so far. This happens multiple times drawing out an already drawn out story . A good editor would have stopped this.
Then there were the grammatical errors peppered throughout the book that were unnecessary because it would have been an easy fix. (i.e., 'over the years it had undergone so many reservations, it was hardly the same manor. (Reservations/Renovations??)…, leaving behind a clammy, stick taste. (Sick? Sticky?), Various different toys populated the different rooms. (This expression was used so many times), Collecting herself before she ascended to the basement, (there was no basement and you don't ascend downwards, even if there was). This went on through the whole story.
While the idea for the book was interesting, this wasn't more than a two star read.
The writing was sophomoric and very repetitive.
