Imprisoned in the Tower at the Archduchess’s mercy, awaiting certain execution, I spend every moment thinking of ways to escape so I can find Riser and fulfill the promise to my father.
When the perfect moment arises, I break free, only to discover the unthinkable—the rebels have branded me a traitor.
It gets worse. War looms, my friends have abandoned me, and Nicolai refuses to help find the Mercurian.
There’s only one way to change his mind and regain the rebels’ respect. I must fight in the ruthless Blood Courts, a violent, gladiatorial arena where only the strong survive. Only problem is, first I have to defeat the reigning champion.
Someone I once trusted with my heart.
Win and the entire rebel army is mine. Lose and the world burns.
Dare to enter the gritty world of Shadow Fall where tyrants rule, misfits reign, and anti-heroes are tasked with saving the world. If you like enemies-to-lovers romance, high-octane action, and epic themes of good versus evil, you’ll binge this rollercoaster of emotions late into the night!

This book takes out so many emotions. Please do this, put «one of us», by Ivan Torrent as background music and read this book. You will not exist in the real world anymore, you will become Maia. Ive been smiling and crying (literally) with her. You can feel everything she feels, the hurt, the betrayal, the love...all of it, and its lots of that.
The heartpounding interactions between Maia and Riser, i just wanted to faint sometimes, wish i was Maia just because of Riser lolzz. I love the way Audrey Grey describes her male caracters, dark, feral but yet carrying some hidden light. I also loved Maias relationships with other caracters, how they started to trust her. Her feelings were my feelings, she didnt irritate me at all, i understood her, i was her, i would have the same reaction to everything.
While i was reading the book i kept on checking how many pages Were left, i didnt want it to end, and then i saw this book was written in 2017, and there was no 3rd book, I panicked literally! I texted the author Audrey Grey, and to my utter shock she replied back:
«Hi! Sorry for the delay. The series was with a publisher and when we parted ways, I was forced to focus on other projects. But I’m one chapter away from finishing the final book in the SF trilogy so I expect it to release hopefully sometime in April or early May. ❤️»
Yaaaaaaiiiiiiiii so the 3rd book is COMING, Im sooooooooooo HAPPY!!!!!!
We're thrown right back into the story where we left off in book 1, and the action starts immediately. I think Everly/Maia really grows into who she wants to be and knows exactly where she is headed. She is fiercely determined, and will not be swayed no matter the cost. I love that determination. I also love that we have some villains that are so vile and awful you can't help but love to hate them. Truly despise with all of your heart. If you like gritty, dark, and vibrant stories that are unabashedly fearless then this series IS FOR YOU! I'm dying for book 3. Like, a dog in heat.. that's how bad I want to know the ending.
Shadow Fall was a great book but somehow Grey stepped it up and made a sequel that surpasses it's predecessor. The writing is perfection and the characters are memorable and unique. The storyline never falters but there are layers to it that keep you engaged and turning pages.
The one criticism I have is that sometimes Maia is hard to connect too. She clearly still has reconstructed memories floating around in her real personality so I suspect these moments are the Author's way of acknowledging that Maia really isn't ok or ever going to be fully ok after what she's suffered through. In many ways she reminds me of Katniss from The Hunger Games but Katniss was at least able to sleep in her own home with her sister and didn't have to fight in a pit for food on a daily basis. Katniss could roam outside and experience the joys of a breeze and sunshine, things Maia was denied while surviving The Pit. It's clear that these differences had severe impacts on Maia and she'll probably always be a little more feral and a maybe little more damaged than Katniss; at the rate this series is going she may be a lot more damaged.
I already can't wait to read the next book!
