In this outrageous comedy, Kirk (Jay Baruchel, Knocked Up, Tropic Thunder), an average guy, can't believe his luck when the successful and gorgeous babe Molly (Alice Eve, Sex and the City 2) falls for him. His smart-ass friends, his crazy family, and even his obnoxious ex-girlfriend are just as shocked as he is. Now, see what the critics are calling a "rowdy blast"* as Kirk goes to great lengths - including some hardcore man-scaping - to make the relationship work and prove that she's not out of his league. *Peter Travers, ROLLING STONE

ALMOST a FOUR FOR ME

PROS:
Like the actors, especially Jay Baruchel who owned the character
Generic, but cute, plot and script
Some really funny lines here and there
CONS:
I didn't really see or feel any chemistry (I mean they are actors, right?) between the leads (although in fairness they have a script and a director, so maybe not their fault)
IT IS a really pretty generic Nerdy Guy gets Hot Girl

OVERALL though it was worth watching for some light romantic and humorous fare.

Just a perfect retelling of a story as old as time...

I stumbled on this movie- I can't even remember how or how long ago really- and it's been in my top three for all these years. I must have watched this movie at least two dozen times and it never fails to make me laugh and cheer and smile from one ear to the other. The story really isn't new, but it does it so damn well you can't help but go along for the ride each time. Once again- Alice Eve is so freaking talented that she steals every single scene she's in (in ANY movie she's in) and she is beyond charming or likable or 'perfect girl next door' in this movie... but she's not alone as each member of this cast did their job perfectly. I love this movie and if you're reading this for some reason as to figure out if the movie is worth your time or money- "yes", it's an easy, simple, reflex reaction for me to say "yes, it's worth it".

Hard 3.5

The central problem with this derivative movie is that the guy is a hard five, and you CAN'T skip more than two spots. Really, it wasn't even plausible. This underlying truism made most of the scenes pretty cringy. The girl acted very well and would have worked with a 7 or better. There were a few good laughs here and there nonetheless.

What is the message? That even if you sell bagels you can get the hot girl? bs.

Not Oscar worthy, but entertaining!

I’m not sure I ever heard of this before but when it popped up in my feed, I didn’t even need to finish watching the trailer before I decided to watch it. For a rom-com, it was great because rarely do we focus on the males perspective of a relationship in this genre. The role reversal of the woman being the more successful, and the guy not being unrealistically hot was refreshing. It was light and funny, and definitely a mood lifter! The “dramatic” elements were funny (while over the top) rather than being downers or tear-jerking which made it very easy to watch. I would watch it again and recommend it.

Plays into Stereotypes

This movie reminded me of so many Disney narratives where the guy's a bumbling idiot pining for a "perfect" girl's attention. The guy in this movie has zero confidence despite being a decent looking guy with a great sense of humor and a steady job. But we're supposed to think less of him because "he's just a TSA agent agent." Meanwhile, we're supposed to think highly of the girl because she's overlooking his crappy job. The movie implies that she deserves some sort of medal of honor for giving this guy a chance. Props to her for giving him a chance at least. But I'm tired of these Hollywood "Beauty and the Beast" narratives when the dude isn't actually a beast.

So i love this movie. Ive seen it several times. Jay is one of those actors i just cant help but love, and alice is without a doubt in the running for sexiest possible actress. For the story its basically just flip roles of the basic rom com.

The two dont have great chemistry on screen but they don't have poor chemistry either. I like that there is a bit of uniqueness in some facets " would be spoilers" and i love the effeminate male model here.

Overall the movie doesnt offer much in substance, it screams shallow archetypes.
I LOVE this cast , they are all awesome separately, but dont manage to be cohesive enough to pull it together.

If you are into rom coms, this one is above average, and i would give it a 4/5 if i were being biased, but the movie just isnt that well made. I just love it .

Ordinary Joe gets knockout girl and he cant believe it himself........

Really liked this cute little romantic movie about a guys normal life until he meets and dates Molly a hot model type of girl with the friendly attitude . In his old life he was dating a bitchy normal looking girl who dumped him for one of his family's friends. When she catches a glimpse of Molly with him at a family pool party she feels so humiliated and wants to go back with her former boyfriend . Molly is so wholesome and everyones dream come true girl .What we have here eventually is ordinary joe wondering why this girl is with him. Great story and plenty of eye candy.......

unoriginal, unfunny and annoying

How many times are they going to make the same movie? Yet another rehashed fantasy that nerdy male writers have been lazily doing for ever. The loser guy gets the hot girl. In this case it is even more ludicrous because he's not charming or funny, he's just as annoying as his friends and such a wuss he's nearly as annoying as his over the top ridiculous family. And of course they make the girl not just hot but smart and sweet and successful. But aside from that, it simply isn't funny, ever. Like not a chuckle to be found. And holy crap can they put more obnoxious characters into one movie? Skip it
