Brandon and Lesa have incredible chemistry from the first time that their eyes meet, and I was hooked on them the moment that Lesa stumbled over the term 'marketing'. While they had instant attraction to each other, it wasn't insta-love, so please don't let that thought scare you off. These two had a boat load of chemistry from the start, and although Brandon tried to keep their attraction from interfering with their business, there was no denying the pull between them. Of course, their road to 'sealing the deal' - both personally and professionally - was filled with pot holes of both the comical, and the really sad varieties. And the pot holes were almost always caused by one or more of the fantastic side characters. Grandpa Morgan was inappropriately hilarious and I laughed out loud every time he said something that would have horrified me if I were Lesa or Brandon. Hilarious.
Brandon was exactly who I wanted him to be. He was a serious workaholic, but more than that he was just an all-around really good guy. In a world full of jerks being labeled as “alphas” to excuse their boorish behavior, it is nice to have a main male character who doesn't feel the need to be a bully in order to prove that he's a man. He was respectful, loyal, funny, incredibly giving, kind, and he loved his family – specifically the women (two legged AND four legged) - in his life unashamedly. These are all qualities that I absolutely love in a book 'hero'.
I adored Lesa. I thought she was spunky and daring while also being so incredibly loyal to her less-than-likable father. Although I was hoping she would lose her mind and go off on everyone toward the end, that would have been completely out of character for her. The resolution to that scen actually fit her quite perfectly, no matter how much my own inner-fighter was screeching on her behalf.
If you like to laugh, you should give this one a try because this book is full of humor. I like to drop bookmarks in as I read, noting things that made me chuckle out loud, and this book was loaded with bookmarks by the time I was done. “Benadryl Brandon” ranks up there as one of the funniest scenes that I have read in 2017.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series to see the ever-responsible Eve get her happily ever after.
I was provided an ARC of this book with no obligation to review it, and I liked it so much that I purchased it.
I liked it, even if it does take a little while to get going. On first appearance Brandon is a hard working rich boy, forced to take a vacation and still managing to fit in business around his play. Which is sort of true, except he’s a lot less alpha than he first appears. And less of a rich jerk too. He’s more of a beta type of guy, who wants nothing more than to make his family’s business a success – partly because of his own past mistakes but mostly because that’s the kind of guy he is. Caring, loyal and deeply focused. He’s sweet and perfect for settling down with.
Which isn’t what Lesa is looking for. She’s a woman who has spent her life working and caring for her family and all she wants is to get out into the world. But first she wants to make her father’s tequila successful again. Which is where Brandon comes in. She’s might be feisty to his sweet, but they get along well, even if they want completely different things from life.
I enjoyed the back and forth between them. There is a lot of flirting, even if the chemistry takes a while to get going. I especially like that there’s no judgment between them, nor does Brandon try to make Lesa change her mind about what she wants. There’s a mutual respect between them that I really enjoyed.
Sadly, this made the inevitable conflict seem out of character and rather overblown. Yes, I know issues, but the way each character handles the pivotal moment felt like a letdown to me. I expected more fight.
Overall this is cute and fun and easy to read. It’s more flirty than passionate, but there is a bit of heat towards the end and some of the characters are very entertaining – particularly Brandon’s grandfather. He’s hilarious. The rest of his family is fun too and I would definitely be interested in reading more about the lot of them.

Brandon is a workaholic who has been burned before where woman and work were concerned. So I understood why he was so hesitant to not get involved with Lesa. He is also a very dedicated family man and Lesa has the travel bug. So again he was reluctant to give in to his base needs for a woman who tempted him beyond belief.
Lesa has been stuck helping her family since she was a child. Taking care of an ill mother while her father worked. She felt trapped and wanted to travel. See the world. Be a free spirit. Last thing she wants is to be tied down. But a fling is always ok. And that's what she tries to get Brandon to succumb too while checking out his families distilliary for her father.
These two were so sweet together. They knew what each wanted even if it was the opposite of what the other wanted. Yet their chemistry and desire for one another was just too strong. I also loved how it was her to take charge and initiate the relationship. And as a side note, their was one character who only appeared in the first 2 chapters that just cracked me up so much that I was in tears. Thank you Edna.
