I was a huge fan of this series from the first chapter of "Stoneheart," and was excited when "Ironhand" was just as good. I expected the same for "Silvertongue." I was a little disappointed.
I felt like Fletcher had given up or gotten tired of his world, and wanted it all wrapped up in a nice, neat bow to finish. The revelation of the tie between George and his Glint friend was highly disappointing, and didn't mesh with the rest of the story. I was confused as to how he'd come up with it, that it came out of nowhere and didn't fit. That section of the plot was grinding, and it tainted (forgive the unintentional pun) the rest of the book for me.
His first two in this series were much, much better. While this book isn't bad, it certainly doesn't do the rest of his work in this world enough justice.

The battle between the statues and the gargoyles in London rages on, and twelve-year-old George Chapman and his friend Edie are caught in the middle. The clock has struck thirteen, and time is frozen. The city’s inhabitants have mysteriously disappeared, and snow piles up in the streets. George is now sure that his destiny is linked to the Walker’s destruction, but first he must deal with the Dark Knight, a formidable foe who stalks George slowly and deliberately, knowing that things must come to their inevitable end, in what must surely be the decisive and final battle.

Well written and exciting. This was a good read for all young readers. CI think there could be a sequel here, too.

Fun reads for young adolescent; predictable, but fun for adults as well.

Great story brought to a satisfying conclusion. This trilogy is not just for a young adult audience. Classic good versus evil, or should I say Spit versus Taint, with a twist! I look forward to more from this author.

As hard to put down as its predecessors
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 10, 2016
Last of trilogy where young George and Edie battle to save a London menaced by supernatural forces, helped and opposed by various sculptures around the city which have come to life. Along the way, each child struggles to come to terms with emotional problems from their relationships with their parents. All three books are very well written and hard to put down once they get going and the first grabbed me with the whole concept, which makes you look at London in a different way. I also loved the humanity of some of the main 'good' characters and the quirkiness of others, there was a very traditional, tweedy sort of Britishness to the whole thing . The second book is much darker and had me quite spooked in parts - and I'm an adult! This third has all of that and some new elements, some of which didn't ring quite as true. I felt now and again that they were written with an eye to how a scene would come over in a film with special effects, also the sudden appearance of 'the Queen of America' to save the day when all seemed lost, felt like having an eye on cross-channel marketing. A few days later I turned the book over and noticed it was published by Disney.
