This one's for Die Hard fans

I look at this as a companion to, rather than a replacement of, the original cut. This is for people like me, who loved the original, and wanted more. I liked how this version is able to flesh out the characters and stories just a bit more.

An Unrepentantly Guilty Pleasure
Verified purchase
Utterly unique, in a good way. A dark, imagined city, maybe L.A. meets Gotham? 1950's cars, lots of beautiful women, Bruce Willis, Mickey Roarke in an amazing role, bad guys, spectacular violence. What's not to like? A truly guilty pleasure, right up there with Pulp Fiction or the Kill Bill duo. And a confession: My 17-year-old daughter asked if she could watch it and I said OK (I know, bad dad) and she really liked it too. Scarred for life. Sigh.

Stick with the theatrical version!

Very disappointed in this version. The storyline is no longer nonlinear, which ruins it for me. The extended scenes don’t add anything at all to the plot. Wish I had known prior to purchase. Stick with the theatrical version.

Fantastic Movie!

This Blu-Ray edition of Sin City is awesome! The movie is a series of Stories from Frank Miller's Sin City graphic novels, and to truly appreciate the movie I would recommend buying the books as well. The graphic novels are nearly identical to the film. Frank Miller's writing is filled with dark humor and is highly entertaining. This movie has a great cast and even though the movie is directed by Robert Rodriguez, it has a guest director spot by his partner in crime Quentin Tarantino. The Blu-Ray's special features are lacking but it looks great in 1080 p!

A True Classic

Dark & gritty with exceptional visuals that still hold up today, I love this film. It has a comic book noir style with chockfull of violence & interesting (& deeply flawed) characters. I also really dig the commentary tracks

Liked Original Version Better
Verified purchase
"Unrated" - um, ok - not sure why.

"Recut" - each story plays out from beginning to end.

"Extended" - Not much to gain here in terms of extended scenes.

Overall I liked the editing of the original version better as the pacing of the stories was more interesting.

Terrible Version of an Excellent Movie

I bought this assuming is was something like a director's cut. It's not. It's my favorite movie presented out of order with a few minutes bonus footage tossed in. -8 stars.

Sort of lessens the impact of the original cut and intertwined stories.

Still a fantastic movie with fantastic scenes but the original cut gave a bit more to chew on with the opening and closing scenes revolving around the "The Salesman" as well as diminishes how the story intertwine.

Still a fantastic story but original cut is much better.
