I have so many mixed feelings about this 2nd installment in this trilogy.
The writing is superb & I was so invested in Keyton (Dare) & Bay rekindling their relationship from high school. What was broken then, Bay knew was going to take a lot of work to fix now. Those issues had seemed to have been fixed, but it now seemed that these two relied on each other too much to succeed and survive.
Bay was his calm in the storm, & Keyton was her courage in the face of her difficulties. It’s fine to be that extra push for each other, but not ok when they relied so heavily on each other to fix each other.
Another whirlwind short lived relationship for these two ended in even more heartbreak than before.
Will they be able to come out victorious in the third installment? I sure hope so!! Because both of them deserve all the happiness that they aren’t allowing themselves to have.

The Razors Still Sharp In The Others Hand

If you read The Art of Falling For You then you know where we begin. If you haven't read it yet STOP! You must read book one first.I'm going to start with happy! I loved Bay's new friend Felicia, I loved that the Band is back in book 2. And most of all I loved that Dare's got a friend who knows, who truly knows him. Not just FU him but highschool Dare, before Bay, after Bay, after a run in with his dad while they were still in high school. The friend he could call when he needed a safe place to rest. Knox is here at training camp and I love it.Book one left me haunted as only a first love broken can do. There is no band-aid, there is no quick fix or repair. It just hurts and it forever takes a piece of you with it and in turn you always carry a piece of it with you whether you want to or not.For Bay and Dare that was first love at it's finest because in its own broken and battered way, even though they were to young to care for it, it was also true love. So when Bay took it out to unknowingly show everyone and Dare mistakenly felt betrayed and shattered their trust the love was still there hiding behind their fear.As Bay discards the pieces of her trust and Dare searches for every scrap and splinter in hopes of repairing their bond and returning to her will the ghosts of the pasts even make this possible?As many of us have discovered Dare is no stranger, he infact is an old friend to many better known now as Keyton. And just like the Dare of old, Keyton has a temper. And he's quick to defend himself physically but honestly who can blame him. When you grow up being a punching bag and finally gain the strength to defend yourself then you do it on instinct and when something or someone cares for you, you protect at all costs.That is how Keyton sees Bay, she is everything to him so much so I don't believe he completely realizes it. And Bay, Bay is angry and hurt still so hurt but it doesn't seem she's been pining for Dare now Keyton the way he's been waiting and hoping for her to see him as changed, reformed, as someone deserving of her.Things do change and feelings do evolve again. Both are discovering new things about themselves and each other. Their growth as individuals is undeniable, yet their trauma from their past still defines so much of who they are. Neither of them facing anything head on.Their opportunities for their futures hang in the balance Keyton willing to risk everything, but Bay well her past has her thoughts somewhere else.Decisions will be made as book two comes to a close but not the way they should be made.There won't be any talking, there won't be any sharing, there won't be any compromises, or tears, or fights or.......So again book one left me brokenBook two has shattered me!Maya is a magician of words, a magical story teller who seems to some how grab at my soul. 🖤I have voluntarily left this review.
