When single mom Joy Lee abandoned her old life to take a job at a lakeside resort, she found something that her family’s wealth and influence could never buy: peace of mind. Not easy to come by for the once-burned divorcée who keeps everyone at a distance. But when her new friend, Maris, dares her to take a chance with the drive-in’s charismatic new owner, everything changes for Joy and her young son.
A difficult childhood has left Maris Kennedy with definite priorities. Her job running Summer’s End, the camp store and café, comes first. Always. Nothing could ever make her risk that hard-won security—especially not her free-spirited colleague. But the more she encourages Joy to open herself up to new experiences, the more Maris begins to wonder what she, too, might be missing.
Learning how to trust will bring Joy and Maris together. And soon they form a friendship that leaves them as close as sisters—and open to love where they least expect it…in Summer’s End.

Joy Lee is the recreation director of the park. She doesn’t talk about life before she came to Cooper’s Charm, pregnant and alone. Now her son Jack is 5 years old. She does not relax and make friends easily. Maris Kennedy runs the camp store called Summers End. Maris and Joy start bonding over morning coffee, then develop a deeper friendship. Maris also does not talk about her life “before”. They become sisters of the heart and gradually we learn of the struggles they overcame to get where they are now.
The warmth of friendship between these people, who become truer families than those linked by blood, is great fun to read. There are two couples and two Happily-Ever-Afters.
Joy and Royce have such chemistry, as do Maris and Daron. Then there's Jack, Joy's 5-year-old son. What a doll baby! He really adds to this story!
I love that Coop and Phoenix, Baxter and Ridley made appearances in the story, too. I think it makes the stories more interesting when the reader can reconnect with characters from previous books.
I definitely recommend this book! You'll enjoy it more if you read Cooper's Charm first, but it can be read as a standalone, too.
Now for the men. Royce is new to the area. It was hard not to fall in love with this man, He has so much to offer, a strong, and willingly helps out whenever he can. Daren is the most wonderful character, always in a good mood, ready to lend a hand, and steadily working on breaking down Maris' walls for her to let him in.
The best thing about this book is the sense of community, how they really are like an extended family in many ways. The way everyone interacted made me wish I could move to Cooper's Charm. Oh, and there are dogs!
I received an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
You just can't read a book in this series and not walk away smiling! With the follow up to her beloved feel-good romance COOPER'S CHARM from last summer, Lori Foster brings us another trip to the homey RV resort to see a few more of the family of employees find their happily ever afters. Like the original book, this one also encompasses two couples and spotlights a close-knit friendship. We saw several familiar faces as we touched base with the couples from last year and brought a new character into the fold. Really enjoying the down-home feel of this vacation spot!
Single mom Joy Lee loves the life that working at Cooper's Charm resort has brought to her and her young son. She's not all that big on taking chances and shaking the boat, but when her knew best friend dares her to take a chance on the attraction she is feeling for the new drive-in owner Royce Nakirk, she decides to throw caution to the wind and lives a little!
Maris Kennedy isn't all that good at practicing what she preaches. She lives and breaths running Summer's End, her country store/cafe at the RV park. She came from a life of having little and she never wants to let her guard down and open herself up to being in that position again, but when Joy takes her advice and takes a chance on love, she feels like she has to do the same and finally give Daron the chance he's been wanting for awhile now!
In this book, Joyce is a single mother to a boy named Jack. She works at Cooper's Charm, Royce bought a Drive In Theatre which is located next to resort. Both of them don't want any relationship, but they can feel sexual attraction and they want to act on it.
Mix a dog and the kid into this and it's more, they don't even see it coming.
Loved all characters, we learn more about Maris and Daron too, which was great.
As always Lori Foster do not disappoint with her writing. Love this story..
The writing draws you in and I loved this story ! Joy has a son and has come from a wealthy family but having had money is not what drives how she lives . Jack is her son and a sweet boy . Royce owns a drive in movie theater that he is fixing up . Maris runs the diner at the park and Darin has wanted a chance with Maris forever . This story show that the bonds you form are not only with blood relatives .
