A self inflicted "Tsunami"... Grace abounds... Mercy gifted... As usual Max Lucado teaches and makes points throughout his book with masterful storytelling skills. Without a doubt, a gift bestowed upon him by The Lord Himself... Because it is not only "grabbing" my heart... But weaving something wonderful into it. The gift being one of the many tools the Lord has been using to weave back together the shredded pieces of my heart and the battered sections of my mind. A healing from within. Not all healing is "instant". Some healings are slow, and steady... Inner healing is even more miraculous than any other type. This manner of healing (true healing not "surface healing" woven by a web of self-deceit) - can only be done by Jesus Himself. The Lord chooses what and whom He will as tools to work with. The Lord is mysterious, and cannot be boxed in, in any way, shape or form. And so - before anyone can argue or question, I will simply paraphrase the words of the blind man who was healed in the gospel of John chapter 9: "... All I know is that I was blind, and now I see".

This was a wonderful book to use as a Bible study or devotional through Lent, the weeks preceding Easter. I picked it up as there was a video Bible study offered on line, and it sounded like one that I could learn from.

There is much to glean in this powerful study. Along with Mind Anchors, Soul Anchors, and Life Anchors in each chapter, there is a tale of what each of the people from Jesus’ days on earth could have thought and endured or of modern-day examples with several thought-provoking questions that help the reader look at his/ her life in more depth. Especially powerful are the readings that include Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection.

One thing I found helpful is, in the first chapter, identifying five life anchors to list and hold onto for “those times”. One of “those times” has bee active in my life, and as I discovered one new anchor for this season, I have had God’s sufficient grace and Jesus’ strength, even while knowing that nothing can take me out of my Shepherd’s hands.

I highly recommend Six Hours One Friday for any time of year, any season of life. Do the study during the times when life is good, or when life is hard. There is something there for you, waiting, a new gift from the Lord, even as there has been for this reader.
