Kudos to Guy for injecting the SciFi element into his fantasy story. Similar to L.E. Modisett, Jr, he paints a past that explains how society got to where it is.
Also, these characters went all over the map. The maps in the book were a joke, and even when I downloaded a higher quality one from Guy's website, it still didn't have 90% of the places the characters were traveling between. I only had a general idea of where they were at any given time, and it was frustrating. Guy should have done a much better job of creating a map with all the towns, ports, and cities that the characters found themselves in, with maybe another map showing their path as they went from country to country, continent to continent.
I really enjoyed the previous books, and I was seriously frustrated with this one. I'm hoping the others are better than this.
Author. YOUR BRILLIANT your first book proved it. Don't saddle us with this low level stuff.
I will definitely be reading the next one.

It is a pity because the basic story line is quite good.
