this was one of the best movies growing up to in the 90s and I for one am really glad to have something that I can relive again and have the exact same experience but in a different time and point in my life. Small soldiers was one of the biggest kids films loved watching besides Disney films at the time and then when they came out Rugrats and mighty Morphin Power rangers the movie all this 90s era was the best part of my life and small soldiers was nothing different but it was in a way because as a live-action movie but where the toys came to life in a good way of course more or less but where there were peaceful kind and then there was the violent kind and the bridge between two became clear on who was the good guys and who were the bad guys come to think of it is probably one of the most original films of the 90s that they came up with besides toy Story and babe. Archer always being the noble leader of the gorgonites and major chip hazard always be in The fearless but also tryant leader of commando elites. each one of these characters formed a special bond in my heart and now having this movie I can be able to experience that all over again. Small soldiers was truly a genuine classic Family film ahead of its time and I hope in the future they will bring it back again and install but keep it classic cuz of film like this always has to stay classic never improve on classic material always bring it to a new life of day but never improve classic. My son is obsessed with this movie! I was trying to get him in to more movies/shows that we used to watch when we were younger and it's kinda working. He has now watched this 4 times and wants to watch it again....we got the movie yesterday. I told him he needs a break from it even though it is summer vacation. I will say the picture is a little fuzzy but it is changed to wide screen and on DVD. Can't beat it for the price. I did see it on blue ray. But didn't want to spend $18 on something that might only have been watch a couple of times....shoulda got the blue ray on my case. Oh and my son is 5 and I forgot they use the word "ass" which isn't too bad but for some might still be too much.

I bought this because it was just a few bucks and I had some fond memories of the Movie as a kid. The Movie itself is okay but definitely doesn't hold up as well as I remembered. The Gorgons aren't very fun characters and their leader, Archer is basically a big fat pile of nothing who does nearly nothing in the entire movie. But the titular soldiers are the actual show soldiers and they're fun enough. I don't regret this purchase but if you don't have nostalgia for it, i'd take a pass.

Small Soldiers was a grown up and twisted version of Toy Story. Things begin when a toy company is taken over by a defense contractor and they start producing computerized action figures that end up coming alive. There is one group of peaceful toys called Gorgonites and one group of soldiers called the Commando Elite. The commandos are programed to destroy the Gorgonites and get out of a toy store and lay siege to a family’s home where the Gorgonites have gone.

It’s a mature story because of the amount of violence the Commandos lay down to get the Gorgonites. They kidnap a kid and hold her hostage. They destroy an entire house, etc. It’s like a war movie but with animated dolls mixed in with real people. It’s also a lot of fun to watch.

I just received this movie in the mail today, and I must say that just having and watching this movie is bringing back lots of late 1990s childhood memories for me. I feel really disappointed that ITunes doesn’t have the rights to this movie in HD, and that I have had resort to getting this fan classic on DVD. I was in second grade in 1998, and I thought Tommy Lee Jones’s character was one of the coolest things ever at that time. If anyone who hasn’t seen this late 90s movie and likes Tommy Lee Jones, I totally recommend this movie. Five stars all the way. PS. I also wish this movie was given an official U.S. blu-Ray release. I loved this movie when I was a kid.

Still good! So strange, any kid who played with Toys as a kid will get it. Heck I knew 2 brothers whose Dad bought them metal army figures they hand painted them. Tanks, buildings, landscapes and laid out whole tables full of old battle scenes. I like their realistic approach to the teen romance with all the genuine awkward encounters. Joe Dante’s playful direction brings toys to life with a vicious violence that is just a blast to watch unfold into child friendly chaos. It through me off when I found out this was a Joe Dante film being I only knew him from his more horror movies like Nightmare cinema, The howling, Piranha, Tales of Halloween and of course Gremlins 1 and 2. So it was to my surprise how many other movies had his name behind that I've seen. Not sure If I'd recommend this movie to anyone under 10, maybe.

Package arrived early ( awesome ) , I am a fan of Clint Walkers - I mainly bought the film for his voice over for the character Nick Nitro* , The film was fun and entertaining - a great add to my Collection of Walker films. Package arrived sealed & in mailing envelope perfect* , dvd played perfectly in my pc's dvd player great sound & picture quality 100% . Fun for the kids & comedy /humor a nice blend . I will buy from this seller again in the future. 5 stars all the way around !!

Ok I'm kinda disappointed no dust cover and NO new extras..so I waited this long for blu ray and got the same old cut on 1080p :( ☹ big fan of this fan i was hoping that Paramount would have done more..
