I bought the sales book not because I am a salesman, but because I was just interested in reading what Dan had to say about this subject. If you have read his other books, you know he gives very sound advice about investing and retirement. He is also a great writer.
When I started reading, it is surprising because the book is just as much a personal self help book as sales book. As Dan states correctly, the two are connected. You can't have one without the other.
I have knowledge and experience with the self help genre and while some of the stuff written by gurus and the like is helpful, much of it is confusing and contradictory.
I can say without a doubt that this book is the best book I have ever read in this field. I compare his book to the “Tools of the Titans” book by Tim Ferris that is a #1 bestseller and this book is heads and shoulders above Ferris'. Dan really boils down things what is most important in my mind regarding success and happiness. Each page jumps out with truths that are backed up by scholarship. I also enjoyed his personal stories very much which are down to earth and real.
It is disappointing to me that this book has not gotten more notoriety. It should. Buy this book.
This book is Outstanding!
The book is brief, easy-to-read, and very specific in how it ties the sales process to your life - that the two do not have to be separate. Also, I found the author to be refreshingly candid in presenting his story. Finally, the book has helped me rework how I will present what my firm does and the principles of our business model.
Trust + empathy + emotion = keys to sales
And, Ditch the pitch

I've been training, coaching and consulting sales organizations for over 25 years to drop the hard pitch, park your sales agenda at the door, and manage the "human dynamic" involved in the sales cycle. It works.
Thanks Dan for your contribution.
